MC208B 0 #1 November 16, 2004 Just read that the "insurgents" in Iraq have murdered Margaret Hassan, the lady that ran the CARE organization there. Those scumbags have hopefully turned the majority of the Iraq people against them with the murder of this innocent woman. May she rest in peace
TheAnvil 0 #2 November 16, 2004 Al Jazeera wasn't going to show the video of her murder. That woman did more good for more Iraqi's than all of these terrorists combined. Sickening. Rebecca 0 #4 November 16, 2004 For some strange reason when she was first captured, I really didn't think they'd kill her. Guess I was sadly and wrongly optimistic. RIP Margaret, Dublin's daughter. you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?

Notice how quick the media is to show video of an American Marine shooting a terrorist-insurgent who probably had been shooting at him and his buddies very recently, but won't show terrorist-insurgents murdering an innocent non-combatant woman who dedicated her life to helping Iraqis? Sick!!

All those people in other threads who are advocating appeasement with terrorists as the U.S. foreign policy, need to heed this lesson... The terrorists don't give a shit how nice you are towards them. They will kill you anyway. Thus, the only logical and effective response is to fight back. Forget trying to make them like you. Funny when I go to the Liberal media in other countries I see lots of talk about Hassan, but pretty much nothing on the Marine. So, does this say something about liberal media, or about American media?

GravityGirl 0 #15 November 16, 2004 Agreed. I don't rely on soley a domestic source of media. All media is slanted. It is produced by human beings. All humans have feelings and beliefs, so it is virtually impossible NOT to be slanted. That's why I like to diversify. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! I would also note the loss to all the Iraqis' who benefited from this wonderful womans dedication to improving their lives in the face of a brutal dictator like Saddam Hussein. Rest in Peace Margaret Hassan, you made a difference.
juanesky 0 #20 November 17, 2004 It is sad indeed, but I can't help to see the irony that a US soldiers kills a wounded COMBATANT, and everyone is on his case, even when he is already under investigation. In four hours that thread got 135 posts, this one hardly made anything more than 18 in double the time. Some in here will actually give these shitheads the benefit of doubt, and even think they hope they won't commit the stupidity of killing an innocent and helpful victim...."According to some of the conservatives here, it sounds like it's fine to beat your wide - as long as she had it coming." -Billvon
MC208B 0 #21 November 17, 2004 yeah, I noticed that too. Let's have a big investigation, hang the marine out to dry, arabs are restless etc. Fuckem. That marine wasted an asshole that had probably killed or wounded some of his buddies the day before. This innocent woman bound, blindfolded, had her brains blown out by these pukes. This after helping the Iraqi people for all those years. I hope that the marines and soldiers waste a whole lot more of them and hopefully, gut shoot em so they can die a slow painful death Still waiting for Billvon to weigh in on this one. billvon 3,006 #22 November 17, 2004 >Still waiting for Billvon to weigh in on this one. Wow, didn't know people were waiting on my opinion! It's not a very profound one, I'm afraid - it sucks that she was killed, and I hope the people who did this are captured or shot, I don't really care which. I also hope we don't kill a few hundred innocent people in the process; that would be a poor memorial to a woman who worked to bring help to these people. bizzylizzy 0 #25 November 17, 2004 My heart broke too when I heard she was murdered and like many of you my faith in humanity led me to believe the terrorists would spare her life since she had devoted most of it to helping so many people. But as shocked as I am of her death, it scares me to read so many people and their violent reactions. I truly believe violonce only breeds more violence. We are watching it unfold everyday in Iraq. As the escalation grows, so do people's desperation and the lines of humanity become skewed. What will it take for someone to finally take a step back, look at the situation and try and truly (in a non reactionary way) assess how it got to be this bad. We can try and kill all the terrorists, but I guarantee we will never succeed. There will always be new people to continue this cycle of hate.Eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow we die. -Dave Matthews
