But taken literally he is blaming the rifle for the death. More precisely the length of the barrel. The reasoning is that if the barrel had one more inch the agents would not have been on him and his wife and son would still be alive. same reasoning as saying that gun homocide would not have taken place if the gun had not been available. usually the reply to that argument is: guns don't kill people, people kill people. sorry if you don't see the irony.
