Darius11 12 #1 December 9, 2004 Need some help cause this is kind of fucked up. If you have the new yahoo messenger you have audibles. They have a bunch of different kinds you can click and they will say “What’s up”, or "happy holidays". They updated it often. They had Halloween and thanksgiving audible for example. So now they have happy holidays, and happy Hanukkah. They have no Merry Christmas. Yes I know I am a Muslim but that’s just fucked up. So I am inviting who ever wants to write to yahoo about how they feel. http://add.yahoo.com/fast/help/us/messenger/cgi_feedback?from_url=http%3A%2F%2Fhelp%2Eyahoo%2Ecom%2Fhelp%2Fus%2Fmessenger%2Fwin%2Faudibles%2Faudibles%2D01%2Ehtml Thank youI'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
AggieDave 6 #2 December 9, 2004 They say happy hanukkah but not merry christmas? That is fucked up, the politically correct have really started going way too far. I firmly believe that if one holiday is recognized then the other major religious holidays should be shown as well. All or none, no special cases.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
PhillyKev 0 #3 December 9, 2004 I agree..but isn't it a little freakin early for Christmas? Maybe they just haven't put it up yet. Hunukkah already started.
AggieDave 6 #4 December 9, 2004 Quotebut isn't it a little freakin early for Christmas? Not according the the Hallmark store in the mall. They've had orniments up since fucking JUNE! (edit: I hate that, I don't like seeing christmas anything until the day after thanksgiving at the very earliest).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." AggieDave 6 #7 December 9, 2004 Quote It's a company. They can offer (or not offer) whatever services they choose. Lets turn it around. Lets say another major company (on the same scale as Yahoo) decided not to say happy hannuka, but only Merry Christmas, what if they put a nativity scene up? What would happen then? There would be a HUUUUUGE outcry, people would be boycotting the company, liberals would be pissing themselves over trying to be Politically Correct. It seems like the ONLY time it doesn't matter to the media or the liberals is when it Christianity is left out. Like I said previously, ALL or NONE.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
quade 4 #8 December 9, 2004 Quote Lets turn it around. Lets say another major company (on the same scale as Yahoo) decided not to say happy hannuka, but only Merry Christmas, what if they put a nativity scene up? It wouldn't be the smartest marketing move, but I see nothing wrong with it at all. There are plenty of companies that do exactly what you've just described. Isn't this the same forum on which we were discussing the right to free speech just the other day? Certainly the freedom of speech pertains to the freedom NOT to speak. Something I wish some folks would take a little more advantage of from time to time. AggieDave 6 #10 December 9, 2004 QuoteThere are plenty of companies that do exactly what you've just described. Yes, I know. How many of them become targets of protest and outcries in the media? Quite a few. So like I said, it should be all or none. Eitherway, they are private companies and can do what they wish, that is true, I just wish the liberals would apply the same standards across the board instead of sticking to their "pet causes." That's where the protests and outcry agains Christian displays verses other religious displays comes to play. No consistancy, its yet another example of why.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
sillie1111 0 #11 December 9, 2004 If it is to early for christmas greetings then why do they have there whole shopping website Holiday gift guide with pictures of christmas trees and a santa hat on the yahoo shopping sign? It seams to me that they have already started with any holiday stuff they are going to have. And besides Christmas is only a little more then two weeks away it is pretty close. I think it is BS that we cant say what we want anymore. I work for a big company and we arent allowed to say Meryy christmas or put up christmas decorations outside of my cubical, our christmas party is now a "Holiday party" You know what I say Fuck that Merry Fucking christmas and if you dont like it go somewhere else. Welcome to america the land of free speech right? IT all seems to be such bull shit. And I think Americans need to start standing up for themselves instead of letting political correctness rule there lives. I am waiting to here back from yahoo, hopefully they did think it was to early for christmas audibles but if not that is just fucked up. OK rant over Merry Christmas to everyone ~Shelly

Darius11 12 #13 December 9, 2004 Yes they have the right not to say Merry Christmas, but we also have the right to complain about it. This is a capitalistic country. So we as customers should also be listened to. I am Muslim we do celebrate the birth of Christ it is not as huge as it is here but we still celebrate it, and all the TV and Radio stations also mention it in Iran. It does not make since for a country where the majority of its population celebrates Christmas to not mention it. I think we all know why they are not. They are afraid of law suits and the ACLU. So here is a chance to write to yahoo and let them know how you feel. I think it's fucked up. I don't agree with Dave that this is the liberal’s fault but I do agree it should be all or nothing.I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not." - Kurt Cobain
