Icarus Neos

Recommended Posts

Recently I was interested in the Icarus Neos. However, all the information I could find was out dated. I recently put over 20 jumps on a demo and wanted to put some information out their that may help someone interested in the Canopy.

I have jumped, Stiletto's and Katana's and small Sabre 2's. I really wanted to transition to the efficiency of a cross braced canopy. The Neos, has been great. I had great consistent openings regardless of what I was doing, AFF, Video, 4-way training, or even big ways. I never had an issue or concern about the opening at pull time. Prior to considering the canopy I was concerned due to the earlier posts about bad openings prior to the service bulletin. These concerns were quickly gone. It opened smooth and consistent every time. I had one "bad" opening but was most likely my packing error. However, due to the center cells being cross braced it seemed to deter it from spinning up by spreading the lines (you can see it in the video).

I would say that the Neos is similar to the Katana but not as steep of a dive. However the center cross bracing makes it more efficient and rigid on turbulent days. The front riser pressure is very soft and responsive. The toggles are firm as expected on a cross brace with great flare power. The rears are firm but not overly hard to pull, the canopy flattened out nice, and can cover ground on a long spot.

I have posted a video of my openings and a few strait in landings if it helps. It is a Neos 109, WL at 1.83.
