I'm not saying either is right. I'm just saying it works both ways and I see very few on the American Left who utter a single word when the US is attacked by the Euros on this forum.

I don´t think that anyone attack the U.S. or at least the U.S as a whole. We may attack your president or your foreign policy, i may even disagree with pro-gun threads or capitalism, but i don´t think anyone here dislikes everything american just because it is american.
I think all Europeans in this forums can distinguish between diferent issues with the U.S and agree with some while disagreeing with others. However, the perception many people have that this is not true may be influentiated for that "with us or against us" ultimatum your president gave to the world.

Thats like saying "I don't think a person is an idiot, I just think everything they do is idiotic". To me this is the same as saying the person is an idiot.

So when non-Americans call the President an idiot, a muderer etc, it's the same as saying the people who support him support a murdering idiot. So don't be surprised when someone who posts crap like this is met with some degree of hostility.

There's an old American saying that goes something like, "Don't talk shit about my mother. You may not like her, but she's still my mother".

I think there is a tremendous amount of restraint shown by American posters on these forums when you consider the down right vile, and hatred that gets posted by non-Americans. Many Americans like Bodypilot90 and others, may be willing to be more amicable once they see the rhetoric cease.

GW has crossed the line. He has pissed off the world. Because of this, it is seen as America and it's people doing it. Since the leaders of this country are no longer showing why we are such a great country, then it is up to the people to do so.

We struck a blow to the world - we are no longer the leader in humanitarian means, environment, foreign policy, peace making, etc. I can see how they are hurt by that and pissed about the reckless cowboy attitude we are emoting ("either with us or against us").

How can we be pissed that they are pissed about us screwing things up? I'm not condoning their comments...a good portion of them are uncalled for. Criticism is good, attacks are useless and will fall on deaf ears.

The rhetoric from the EU and the rest of the world will not cease until the leaders of this country gets their act together.

Nobody agrees with everyone on everything, but look at the title of this thread. Do you really think that statement is called for?

I think maybe the problem lies in the fact we Europeans spend a lot of energy criticising our own policitians. We have very little respect for any of them and consequently we take the piss out of them a lot.

I've had a US poster respond to my posts on Bush by taking the piss out of the Queen of England on a couple of occasions. Very few Brits would be offended by that. Juanesky: We constantly take the piss out of the Queen - when you do it to offend, it misses completely.

I think for the most part when non-Americans on this site criticize America they are having a go at the US government not the people. They don't realise you guys are far more patriotic than we are and actually find it offensive.

Most people I know here in the UK don't like US foreign policy, but I can honestly say that I don't know anyone who doesn't like Americans or America.

Considering the proportion of US posters on this site anyone who is really anti-American would probably be better off finding a new skydiving website (Yeah i know its run by a south african and hosted in canada...).

And yes, I did wince when I saw the title of this thread because I knew it would really piss some people off.

And the support the world has for the American people was seen in the time following 9/11. The same respect was shown to those in Spain after 3/11 and once again after the children in Russia were killed.

When we remove patriotism and religion we all seem to get along.

I don't think most of the world hates the indivdual, but hates the inflated ego and pride that we are ruled with. However, there are those that will take it to the basement and attack the person. Both sides do that. :S That's why its better to lead by example instead of following the crowd.

But no one is against all the U.S, The U.S is quite diverse in pretty much everything so no one can do what you propose in your analogy.
All of my post may be critic with the U.S, but only in the areas that i talk about like war, government and guns. That is the nature of this forum, but there is other issues about the U.S that we if i was going to discuss here, the thread would be moved to bonfire.
The problem here is those DZ posters who will try to invalidate the poster rather than the post by saying that he or she is just bashing america when the truth is that you are only (strongly) disagreeing with a small set of issues.

George Bush is not a murderer, he is a MASS murderer......There have been countless of world leaders that have done the same. I don't think he should be charged with crimes, Kerry voted to go to war in Iraq as well and he is even a bigger ass and I'm sure Clinton would have voted as well........We went into Iraq for money!!!!!!! period. Or at least the money Oil companies and associated businesses and the Royal Family will make with Sadam gone. The UN sanctions were certainly not a reason to go war. When the US had sanctions against it we just laughed so said F you sanctions....

We could have blasted Sadam as soon as he stuck his neck out of Iraq.... I don't see where the threat was?

Clinton was a whore to Big Oil as well.

One mans terrorists is another mans hero....

BTW - I like Bush except for this whole Iraq thingy

My name is Saddam,

I hate you and your evil religion. I will visit you and your family in your hometown......

ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss........

Poison gas.

300,000 dead.

Remember and pray for the Kurds

How can you put Bush in the same league as Hitler, Ghengis Khan, Mussolini, Saddam, Caligula, Nero.

Our mistake was not to have a plan and resources to immediately swamp Iraq with food, water, fuel, power, jobs, medicines, etc not to destroy a tyrant who kills his friends and family to further his own ends.

If is the way you still feel, please move to a Taliban infested country and try to voice your opinion, not go to church if you choose not to, have a beer after a good day of jumping, and oh, yes, skydive...

There is probably something in the Q' uran to say that skydiving is punishable by stoning to death....

Come on people, grow up. I'll lock this thread on the next pointless, combative, one liner.

"But our shenanigans are cheeky and cute. His shenanigans are sick and cruel." :S
"Which makes them not really shenanigans at all." :P
"E-e-e-e-vil shenanigans!" :)"I'm gonna pistol whip the next guy that says 'shenanigans'!!" >:(
"Hey Farva, what's that restaurant you like? Y'know, the one with all the goofy shit on the walls?" ;)

"Shenanigans?" :|

Go back to tending your sheep. It was an American war President that kept you from being taken over by the Japs in WWII...

yeah but it wasn't until the japs invaded the u.s. that they gave a fuck about anyone else . far too much money being made out of selling weapons to give a shit!

at least the japs have honour.

The man hid a plane in the desert. So he MUST have hid WMD there too. It's logic Spock, but not as we know it

You are funny...Try reading my post again....I'll highlight the good stuff that you missed.

Quote

None of the above...However if he can (and did) hide a bunch of Migs in the middle of a desert...Ya think he could have hidden a couple of barrels or boxes of stuff?

See I said COULD HAVE....You don't think that a guy that was able to hide a couple of really big Migs could not have hidden a few barrels of stuff?

Thats just not posible?

For starters that jumper said he felt snubbed. No one was rude to him. Europeans are not as gregarious as you guys. It could have been anything. He and you choose to interpret it as anti-American

Man you just can't stop can you.

Look at what you JUST wrote:

Quote

For starters that jumper said he felt snubbed

He felt snubbed...So unless he was just a depressed anti social guy he most likley WAS snubbed.

Quote

No one was rude to him

NO ONE was rude to him? You were with him 24/7? He seemed to think they were rude to him.

And then you add this:
Quote

Europeans are not as gregarious as you guys.

So he says people were rude to him and you say that it didn't happen. You then say that the ENTIRE European community is not as gregarious as ALL Americans.

I see that as rude.

And then after this:
Quote

Europeans are not as gregarious as you guys

You write this:
Quote

And secondly, don't judge an entire continent based on one guys vague feelings about how he was treated

So you claim that ALL Europeans are not something, but ALL Americans are...

Man this is killing me.

I sure would hate that if people put me into a category because of GW! That man doesn't represent me, I didn't vote for him

Like it or not, GW DOES represent you. Maybe you don't agree with him, maybe you didn't vote for him, but he does represent you, just like Clinton represented me. And I would not shake hands with Clinton, I distrusted him so much.

Do you see thread after thread of Americans dissing your Country, Its leaders, or its system?

Nope, There might be one or two, but bashing America seem to be the latest Euro-sport.

Let´s say that i havent found many positive references about Spain, France or Germany in SC.

You are talking like America is its government, its foreign policy, its gun stance or a combination of all.

I usually don´t have to wait a while before getting slamed back, and all of that is well and good as long as it doesn´t include personal attacks and it is an articulated response.
Europeans tend to be big critics of their government, so if you say that you think that my government is a pussy, i will agree with you, although probably for diferent reasons. If i say something bad about Bush many people here will take it personal.

it would be a cold day in hell that i'd stand by and let my "president" live if he and his sons or cronies were running around partying and killing and raping whomever they wanted with no one to stop them.

them hussein boys were such nice kids. what a shame.

Ron, I feel you are being overly agressive towards me. Does that mean you actually are being overly agressive towards me? Is my perception of someone's behaviour towards me always correct? Is yours?

From memory he stated that noone was actually rude to him, he just felt snubbed. Maybe you would like to dig up the original post and we can take this conversation to a new level of pettiness.

Quote

No Ron I didn't say that. People from different countries have different traits. It is reasonable to characterise people from a particular nation as having certain traits. It doesn't mean everyone from that nation has them, only many of them do.
The French are different from the Germans are different from the British etc. If you haven't travelled you'll just have to trust me on this.

If you did a poll of Brits on this site I expect the majority would agree that Americans are more open and friendly than the English.
