You cannot have an Islamic democracy. You can only have a Theocracy or a Monarchy! As such, IF the (fairly strict) Shi'ite majority in Iraq have their way, then what you will see is a democratic vote AGAINST democracy! Another way to look at it is to visualise Europe in Mediaeval times, when to all intents & purposes the church was the state and the Monarch was looked on as having a divine (god-given) right to rule - WITH the blessing of the Church. Of course, that was when Christianity was only about 1,300 years old, unlike today when it's Islam that's about 1,300 years old. Mike.
