So what? There's nothing in the Bill of Rights that says "Thou Shalt not be Offended". - Jim Would it be OK for an Arab American to have a picture of a Palestinian waving a rifle on her locker?... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.

Kennedy 0 #29 March 31, 2005 QuoteWould it be OK for an Arab American to have a picture of a Palestinian waving a rifle on her locker? In, her locker? Fine. (disclaimer: not ok if affiliated in any way with terrorism: Abu Nidal, AQ, hamas, etc, just like IRA pics would not be appropriate but Sinn Fein or PLO would be OK) On her locker? Most schools don't allow anythign on the outside of lockers. Relevant to the case at hand? Not really, since the assignment was school grads at work, to be posted in a classroom, not pictuers in a locker.witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
dorbie 0 #30 April 1, 2005 QuoteIt's not some suppression conspiracy against Marines or guns, it's about the lawyers directing the school board, hence teachers what not to do. Wrong, this is about one administrator who made the rules up as she went along. She extrapolated zero tolerance on weapons to make pictures of armed troops serving the USA unacceptable. As for someone worried about a relative being killed by that marine's weapon, well they would be an enemy of the US for the marine to be shooting at them so tough shit. An Arab American could look at that image and imagine the freedom it brings them as citizens or imagine the liberation of their relatives so others can enjoy the freedoms that drew them to the USA so don't presume to think for them. That marine has a right not to be singled out as unacceptable for consumption in his old school. They should be thanking him for his sacrifice not letting some dumbass hypocrite at the school enjoy the freedoms he fights for on her behalf while taking away the freedoms of his family through the arbitrary application of rules that don't even exist.
