***... understand the subtle complexities and socio-political commentary it contains...I guess there's no hope for that now.

There was no hope before.

Edit - Oh crap that was probably a personal attack.

Following "legal" orders is an excuse

Didn't work too well at Newremburg, Mr. newsstand.
It may be an "excuse", but historicaly it holds no weight in court.

Cliff

The murder of innocent civilians is not a legal order, see My Lai

You really also ought to consider a spell checker since you admit to not being detail oriented. Nuremberg and historically would be correct.

Thanks for the spell checker advice and you are right about that.
Thing is that I always have a spell checker in the less enlightened class. They are quick to point out spelling errors even though they completely understand the message.
So really, why bother with a spell checker? I figure my time is better utilized directing the sheep to water.
I'll let the weaker minds feel a purpose and usefullness as they correct my spelling, punctuation, etc.

Excellent, ignore the point and concentrate on the trivial.

I'll play along. Correct spelling, syntax and grammar have a lot to do with credibility.

BTW what is your opinion on My Lai and the legality of that action, not to mention the military's eventual response?

This 1967 book turned up recently in the arms of right-wing militia followers who thought of it more as a bible than a satire. But a hoax it was, accomplished with the help of John Kenneth Galbraith, E.L. Doctorow and Victor Navasky.

Drat on you, newsstand...I was drawing a parallel to fictional writings, and eaglewhatshisname didn't even pick up on it.

Sigh...

Oh well.

The hoax is out.

Yes, It is all a hoax,Michele.
Just as the protocals of Zion were a hoax.
Or some would want you to believe.
With all that is happening (the new bancruptcy laws, ontop of the housing bubble about to burst , and the gov't mandate that all credit card companies raise their minimum payment requirements by 100%) , it's all just a hoax . A white rabbit if you will.
No reason to worry now,
Let your hair down.

I don't know enough about that incedent to have formed an *informed * opinion.
You brought it up. How about you enlighten us with your opinion.
Thanks.

Follow the link and you will get a pretty good read on it. It was an illegal order that was followed and a single Lieutenant got hung out to dry when his superiors should have been the ones punished.

So now you have hijacked your own post and I get left with the troll because everyone else has gone to bed. At least those in the western hemisphere. The Europeans are working and the Aussies are partying and don't have time for this.

I posted about LT Calley's superiors getting off the hook in http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1646283#1646283.

Basically LT Calley gave the order to his platoon and it was his order and his alone, but there definitely was a bad command climate in his unit and his lack of training didn't help any. But no, Calley didn't get hung out to dry, he actually got off way easier than he should have.

What a nut case. :S Pull your pants up, take your Linthium, and go outside for a while. The voices in your head may stop talking out there.

I'll bet you any amount of money that you have never jumped out of a plane, much less ever even been to a DZ (that stands for dropzone). :S:S:S:S:S:S:S

Sure. Now you just have to tell us who you are and where you jump at so we can verify what you say.

In reality (not that that applies to you), if you were an actual jumper (which we both know your not), I would want to make sure I avoided any DZ that would allow you on the permises. Seek help. What was that? Their coming in the back door! Run while you can! Oh god, they're going to get you!!! :S:S:S:S:S

I was jumping at Skydive Arizona when it was in Coolidge.
I was jumping at Z-Hills when it was Pheonix.
I was jumping at WFFC when it was "Freak Bros".

In other words, Buddy, I was jumping when you were running around on the recess yard.

So you owe me a Jackson.
I tell you what, take it and buy a newbie a lift ticket, jump with them and teach them something. Thanks.

Anonymous, scared, hiding in your closet? Anyone can look up history and post it as their own. You are obviously lying and making up everything except your paranoia. You are a wuffo, and one with painfully little else going on in your life that you can hang out on a interest based web community that you don't even participate in, all to make wild, inarticulate claims that the world is ending and that only you know the REAL truth. Your brain is out to get you.

How sad. :(:(:(

Hi Tree

Why Sad:(:(:(

Look at it from another view. IMO the dude is very funny:D:D:D

Sad would be if the dude was your boss or was sitting next to you on a airplane during a very long long flight without any empty seats,:)
R.I.P.

I was at WFFC in quincy when Roger was spotting Piras' 100
ways from the ground in a golfcart. We were getting 18,500 most loads out of that CIA affiliated C-130 .Southern Air Transport? Something lke that.
Put the 100 way right over the top. The rest of us landed sometimes miles away.
Steppenwolf played at the convention that year.A short set as their was some dispute over gate reciepts.
Also after the rainstorm on wednesday we had a midget throwing contest in the mudpuddle.(Didn't have real midgets so smaller people were used as subsitutes.)

Now , are you still going to welch on the wager?

Like I said, take the $20 you owe me and buy a newbie a lift. Jump with them and teach 'em something. Thanks,Tree
