When will they outlaw the Confederate flag?

I also noticed that most people who think they are educated are liberals. Check out most kids in college, who aren't very well educated, and see where their politics lie. How's that one?

Very nicely put.

Most people I know with advanced degrees (that actually make a living related to that degree) actually lean to the right. But then, I don't live in acedemia, I only work in the real world.

Before you get into graduate school you need a BS degree

Well, that's not always true... there are several 5-year programs that skip the BS (no pun intended)... Architecture is a prime example... and you left out all the folks that get BA's too...

Besides, like you mentioned, how many remember anything after the last final... I come across lots of folks that are educated beyond there intelligence.

The example you gave, and to which I responded, was engineering. Show me any engineering school in the US that accepts graduate students who do not have a Bachelor's degree.

Even 5 year ARCH programs going straight to a masters require a 45 (semester) credit hour general education component in order to be accredited by the NAAB.

As to leaving out BAs: every undergraduate program in the USA (BA, BS, whatever) MUST have a general education component in order to be accredited. Non accredited schools and their students do not qualify for any federal funding, so that's a pretty big stick.

Blah, blah, blah... the only thing you can say across the board for the general ed. requirement for any undergrad degree, and therefor and grad degree is that the holder has been exposed to the information, not that they know it, unless their degree is in that specific material... So to infer that highly educated liberals have a better grasp of history than anyone else is quite a leap.

I know I'm going to get flamed on this but I find that most Americans, lib and conservative, have very poor knowledge of history and geography in general.

Like you said most have been exposed to it and thats about it. It's upto the individual to educate themselves if they want to.

Which is very handy as anyone can say, and be correct:

"{insert any name here} group has a very poor knowledge of history and geography."

And you'll be correct, but people will infer that the particular group needs help (and funding) and pity more than other groups that aren't really different.

The Confederate flag will never be outlawed, just banned from public service buildings and properties.

Just recently, a Confederate historical society or something that owns property next to I-65 between Birmingham and Montgomery put up a huge Confederate battle flag on a 200 foot pole.

Damn things need to be left in museums, not displayed in public. Just my opinion.

Now I was born in Alabama and lived my entire life, except the college years, in Alabama, and I consider myself as southern as the next guy, but we lost the war. Get over it! Fly Old Glory with pride. To hell with the Confederate flag.

In that case we shouldn't let any Britains fly the British flag in the US either. That flag is nothing but a symbol of tyrrany, oppression, and religious persecution, and those fu*&%rs taxed our tea. Well they lost the war too.

The British flag belongs in a museum in the U.S. too ;)
