kelpdiver 2 #326 July 8, 2005 QuoteWhy don't they 'have a leg to stand on'? The same arguments about nobody else is affected, etc. apply to polygamy and same sex incest among adults. I wasn't referring to polygamists. I was referring to those opposed to gay marriage. Polygamy or bestiality has nothing to do with this issue, but it's a good deflection for those without a valid argument.

I didn't mention anything about beastiality, but polygamy certainly does have something to do with this issue. Polygamy was legal in this country and is still common in certain parts of the world. I think those that don't want to deal with the unintended consequences of legalizing same sex marriages are just deflecting a valid concern. Many argue that same sex marriage should be legalized because it does not affect those outside the marriage and a loving devoted couple should be allowed to marry without regard to their gender. How do these points not apply to other unconventional relationships? I think polygamy was made illegal because polygamist men had the reputation for marrying very young, minor girls (with parent's permission), and that these girls were only willing to do it because they were raised/brainwashed in very isolated communities. People considered this victimizing the girls. I agree.People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
