eaglenrider 0 #1 July 15, 2005 Well , I don't guess I have to say much here. Your government lied to you! The lie was orchestrated. The heroic assault on the hospital is a proven hoax perpetrated by the US government. The whole Jessica Lynch story was a lie! Do you believe that in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave there is room for the government to lye to the people? How many of you fell for the Jessica Lynch story? How many of you fell for the Weapons of Mass Destruction story? Are you alright with your government feeding you lies? Just wondering. Alias 0 #5 July 15, 2005 http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?pagename=article&contentId=A2760-2003Jun16¬Found=true She was taken form SH Hospital by SF no doubt. But "rescued" might be a bit of glory talk. She also never fired her weapon, "willing to fight to the death" killing Iraqi's, who had shot and stabbed her. She apparently was in a high speed HV accident where she broke her leg. When SF arrived, there were only Dr's there. The same ones who tried to return her the day before. So it does seem that she was used for a "hero", boost morale purpose. Then again, who knows Carpe Diem
ViperPilot 0 #6 July 15, 2005 You need to give more credit to the soldiers who rescued her. Sure, she didn't fight off Iraqis rambo style like some reports said, but she was in huge danger and needed help. But of course you take the word of the Washington Post and its extremely reliable sources, such as Dr. Mushafafawi, who said that no military or intelligence members went with Lynch when she moved hospitals. You actually believe that the Iraqi military/intelligence community wouldn't care if an American POW was being transferred anywhere in Iraq? That's a complete lie, they'd be all over her like flies on shit; especially in the earlier parts of the war when having a captured American was extremely good propganda (not that it's not now, but it was very important then). I know you hate the US and Bush a ton, but maybe you should think about your sources. Dr. Mushafafawi and others can't be reliable sources all the time, even though they may not be bad people, the sheer threat to themselves and their families by the Saddam government/military is enough to make them tell a "nice little story," just like the one they gave to the Washington Post. Remember, just because some guy like Dr. Mushafafawi says so, does not make it true.
Alias 0 #7 July 15, 2005 First off I dont hate Bush and certainly not the US, so save that crap for a legitimate poster that does. If you look again at my post, you'll see where I say "Then again, who knows"? That means that I don't buy too much into anything until a few sources that I recognize as only slightly saturated with bias all confirm it. Even then I question it. Try it once. It still remains a valid point that the initial DOD version was incorrect. And they are the ones in the know. Used for morale boost? Yes. True? No. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/correspondent/3028585.stm http://www.journalism.org/resources/research/reports/war/postwar/lynch.asp#4/ http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/11/07/lynch.interview/ and on and on and on. Not saying that some low level Army spokesman could not have been stretching it a bit. But it is just as easy to believe it was used as a boost....and was not factual to do it. edit to add: Support the troops! - always giving credit! Why jump to the assumption he was responding to your post? That spot isn't bad at all, the winds were strong and that was the issue! It was just on the downwind side. sfzombie13 324 #10 July 16, 2005 i read in time and somewhere else about the whole thing a while back. i used to be in an sf unit. i know what these guys were prepared for and i know what would have happened if they had met resistance. my unit went to afghanistan in 02 and while i wasn't on a team, i basically ran the show in admin in the fob. as someone else said, i respect her also for not exagerating._________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes

freakyrat 1 #17 July 19, 2005 Rhino, agreed, One of the men in the unit was former Army Specialist Michael Hughes who is a Legislative Aid for Senator Diane Feinstein. I met him at a legislative reception in Washington this past May. He's a little guy and it's hard to believe that a guy his size could be this bad ass Army Ranger but he was. Some of the smallest can be the meanest when pushed. Anyway he's very personable and who knows maybe he'll run for office someday. Chris
