There's more than one way to skin a cat The mayor of Vancouver Wa. got national press for the price of two coffee mug's. That's cost effective use of the cities advertising budget. R.I.P. No state income tax in Wa state, and no sales tax across the state line in oregonR.I.P.

MC208B 0 #9 July 16, 2005 don't feel bad! The mayor of Vancouver (Pollard) is a true asshat. Apparently a lot of residents are too since that jerk keeps getting reelected Vancouver is a nice place, my kids are there and I lived there a long time til l I moved to Maui. One thing the mayor is in denial about, it is and always will be a Portland, OR suburb

Thread title: Vancouver, WA Mayor Feeling "Less Than" It was an attempt at humor. jen That's okay, for those without a sense of humor, here are some facts about Vancouver, WA: Population: 143,560 Unemployment Rate: 8.2% Sales Tax: 7.7% ...and roughly 40 inches of rain per year. PORTLAND: Population: 529,121 Unemployment Rate: 7.9% Sales Tax: 0% (but the property and income taxes in Oregon are much higher) ...and roughly 40 inches of rain per year. Yes, Vancouver is a suburb of Portland, no way to avoid it. I used to live in Portland and enjoyed that city a lot. I rarely went to Vancouver for any reason, other than to drive through it on my way to Seattle. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! IB52 0 #11 July 17, 2005 According to the facts our local newspaper came up with when reporting this story, county-wide there are 15 Starbucks stores plus 13 licensed sites in grocery stores and other outlets. So I think I can add those together and let's see, we have 28 Starbucks locations in Clark County, Washington! Wow! Who would have guessed! Leave it to the mayor to come up with some attention-getter like smashing the mugs of the coffee-chain/empire-built-by-marketing-geniuses who've now crowned themselves king of coffee and all just to get them to get their Portland mugs off the shelves! You go, Royce!
