QuoteNice to hear that youngsters are considered as " little shit".
Once, again, you have interpreted things incorrectly.
He's not a little shit because he's a youngster. He's a little shit because he was caught: "desecrating a venerated object, underage drinking, littering, evading arrest, burning personal property and theft"
If he had burned his own flag in his own yard, that would have been free speech. But when he stole someone else's flag and burned it, that became a crime.
Do try and keep up.

QuoteYour reply tells a lot on how "you" treat your kids in the US. I just made another scary experience on BF.
What is scary is how you take one comment from one person and generalize that to behavior practiced by an entire country of 260 million people.

QuoteI have refered to my son as "the little shit" or "that little shit" when telling other people of some of his "adventures". I would never call him that to his face, and never have, especially since he is 6 inches taller and 50 pounds heavier than I am now. I guess if I'm telling someone about him now he'll be the "big shit" if the situation was a pain in my ass. The child in question is acting like a little shit, so we have to call them like we see them. Maybe we should blame his parents/the system for his behavior, but I personally think the little shit knew what he was doing.

I appreciate what you've said. I referred to my 2 - sons as 'little shits' and like you, not to their faces. Heck, My dad used to call me that. In the case of the juvenile delinquent mentioned in this thread... he's a 'little shit!' He lacks respect for anything... even himself! He deserved the time in the slammer.

It was not just "one comment". Really not. It's not first time, I read statements about kids like the one in this thread. And it's not first time I've been flamed for my replies regarding treatment of children.
Having a look on BF, people breaking down in tears b/c their cat/dog died after beeing 10-15 yrs on earth with them - unbelievable discrepancy in my opinion. Oh man, surely the cat/dog lovers will flame me for that, too. Don't get me wrong: I always had cats, love them but, kids are on top of my ranking and always will have priority. Anyhow, they are no "shit" at all. Behaviour of children is just representing how they were grown up. They are not to be blamed on it.
Regarding generalization: I agree. But it's mutually, isn't it?
Everybody may free to pull out the flame-thrower - I don't mind, as today I wear my fire-proof suit and feel well in the my swimming pool

If my boy would decide to burn the German flag, at first I WOULD ASK HIM WHY!!! before calling him "shit".
Calling a kid "shit" is shit, Mister.
In the southern US, the term "little shit" is an idiomatic expression that can be used as either a term of endearment or a mild insult. It is NOT a literal term.
It is in no way equivalent to calling someone a "piece of shit".
That being said, are you on the rag, or what?

Fine, you've got your priorities--so does everyone else. There are some cultural differences to be considered. In some cultures, everyone is expected to put up with annoying behaviors from children. In others, e.g., the US culture, that is not the case.
For example, if I am eating in a nice restaurant or seeing a movie and someone has their kid with them and the kid constantly makes a bunch of noise, I don't consider it cute and I am not tolerant. The real problem, of course, is that the parents are very inconsiderate of others and it often stems from having an attitude similar to yours. There seems to be a lot of people with kids that think that society owes them some sort of special consideration. Many people, including me, strongly disagree.
I am not saying that you allow your kids to exhibit annoying behaviors in public places--I am pointing out a difference in attitudes.
There are any number of situations where out-of-control kids are very annoying and I don't blame people for not liking kids because of it.
Have you ever been on an airline flight with a kid sitting behind you making noise and/or kicking the back of your seat?
Speaking of airline flights, people with small kids don't pay a fare for the kids. IMO, they should pay very high fares for the kids and the money should be used for a kids section on the plane.
As far as people caring about animals more than kids--of course they do! Infants are ugly, smelly, and noisy. Animals are cute.
Oh yeah, if you want to generalize about whole cultures, here's one for you--Germans killed many thousands of Jewish kids during Hitler's reign. What does that say about German people?
By the way, are you a "fish head"? If so, that would explain your posts.
