Please help me out here, because I'm having difficulty comprehending a bizarre paradox, to wit--

During Vietnam, protestors spat upon, humiliated and in some cased brutalized conscripts returning to the USA.

This time, the baby-killers are all volunteers, but the lib-left always speaks of "supporting the troops but being against the war."

Isn't this a little backward?

I wasn't around for Vietnam, but my father was. He'd see his students graduate, get picked up by the military, and not come home. He was always organizing fundraisers for their families, and was active in several "release the POW's" groups. He was also very much against the war. He feels the same about this war. Doesn't seem backwards to me.
