rwieder 0 #11 August 30, 2005 i have a problem with some who complain about the price of gas. diesel fuel and gas aren't the only commodities that are steadily increasing. what about cigarettes, booze.....etc i never hear any complaints about any of these vices. wonder why not? -Richard- "You're Holding The Rope And I'm Taking The Fall"

bergh 0 #14 August 30, 2005 Actually you people have very little to complain about the price of gas in the US is much lower most other countries. Try R5,66 a litre litres -> US gallons | 1Litre = 0.2642 Gallons Rand -> Dollar | R6.50 +- = $1 So always look on the bright side !_______________________________________ You are unique, just like everybody else ... Pendejo 0 #18 August 30, 2005 Quote Yep, depending on the condition of the drilling platforms that were damaged in the gulf. What does that have to do with why fuel is so high today? I KNOW a guy who is as smart as you are knows the real reason that fuel prices are so high. Just in case you hadn't had time to look at it I'll give you a hint... Look at the number of U.S. refineries that are up and running right now. As for the price increase because of the storm.... Thats nothing more than an opportunity for them to make more money. I am talking about the increase this week not the increase over the last year and a half. If you watch CNN they have reported 92% of the oil produced from the Gulf of Mexico has been wiped out. Thats an estimated 3 million barrels since Monday. That just might have an effect on why gas is going up again, more so that just trying to make a dollar this time.______________________________________________ "A radical man is a man with both feet firmly planted in the air." -Franklin Delano Roosevelt

I'm sure this isn't the first bad storm to come through that part of the country.... I think you might want to read between the lines in the CNN report.... It didn't say that the oil rigs were destroyed now did it.... Think of it this way. How long do you think it takes a barrel of oil that comes out of the rig today to get to the refinery??? When you have that number you will understand (at least I think you will) why I said what I said.... Ever look at the amount of oil that is imported into the U.S. from foreign countries? When you get that percentage... It kind of makes you wonder why (if its not all about the money) we base our prices on what OPEC is doing this week.... Don't get me wrong.... I'm all for them making money... I just get pissed off at all the "spin" that gets put into it. Pendejo He who swoops the ditch and does not get out buys the BEER!! No lines to read between, the pics and video of the rig platforms destroyed and floating around the gulf contributed to the statement made about the loss. I don't know how long it takes to produce one barrel of oil, but the rigs lost in the gulf contribute to 1/4 of oil produced in the US.______________________________________________ "A radical man is a man with both feet firmly planted in the air." -Franklin Delano Roosevelt
