davedlg 0 #26 August 31, 2005 I paid $2.49 to top off last night. Drove by the same station today and it's $2.89.
tigra 0 #27 August 31, 2005 I've got half a tank right now- if I top off now and the price stays the same, I'm just wasting my time. If I top off now, and the price goes up, I'll have saved a little money- probably less than $20.00. And I'll still need to buy gas again at some point in the near future. I'm not waiting in a gas line to save $20.00, especially since I'll be adding to the problem, possibly aid in creating a shortage and depriving someone who really needed the gas. masterrig 1 #31 August 31, 2005 I think, the oil companies, have us by the 'valves'! They know, we love our cars and pick-ups and we need their product. Check-out how much the gas station owner makes per gallon... it ain't much. Chuck

So no money etc etc etc.. We live in a world where you need a vehicle and the oil companies know that. In Atlanta you can get around on Marta but what if you live in the suburbs your screwed. If you have no choice but to fill up at such a station, SAVE YOUR RECEIPT!! Back when 9-11 happened and some local stations here jacked gas up to $4.00/gallon, they got in trouble and had to refund all customers that had a receipt. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! Take a bus. Telecommute once a week. Move closer. Get a closer job. >We live in a world where you need a vehicle and the oil companies >know that. I live in the suburbs and I ride a bike to work. If it's important to you, you can find a way to get to work without gasoline, or with much less. And that's the one thing you can do to 'get back' at the oil companies. Until you're willing to do that, they will charge whatever they want for gas.

So if you live 50 miles from the city with no marta or public transportation you are suggesting riding a bike c'mon get real. Quit your job and get one closer yeah that will teach the oil companies a lesson won't it.. I cannot ride a bike to work cause bikes are illegal to ride on the interstate (which is the only way i can get to work). Nobody lives by me that works the same hours i do. There is no public transport around me either. However, i'm lucky. I work 8 miles from where i live so i'm not too affected by this all. But billvon's "solution" is totally ridiculous. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug!

No, carpool would be a better choice. Get a Honda GX and you won't even need gasoline. Get a Jetta and use biodiesel; that's running around $4 a gallon now, and the price of soybeans wasn't affected by Katrina, and won't be affected much when oil runs out. >c'mon get real. I am. I love that idea! The best part - the name of the device is Phill Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
