flyangel2 2 #51 September 2, 2005 QuoteNo, you misunderstand. This has never been about athletics. It's been about the conflict of business and humanity. Wow! Bo, you need to slow down. These people that have to leave the hotels have been offered another place to stay. BTW, do you know for a fact that the people staying in the hotel from NO are paying the bills or is the goverment doing that? Now go take a chill pill and relax.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. PsychoBob 0 #52 September 2, 2005 I just heard on FOX NEWS that many of the fans that were coming into Tallahassee have cancelled their reservations voluntarily to allow the evacuees to stay. This is what it's all about folks. Last year when we went through Hurrican Ivan it was the volunteered offerings not the mandated programs that meant so much to everyone. Even though I am a FSU fan I hope the Miami Fans that gave up their resevations are blessed in a very special way. BillyVance 34 #54 September 3, 2005 I read in the newspaper today that the Lousiana governor ordered that all motels allow refugees to stay, rather than kick them out for those who had reservations. Now that's a good call if I ever heard one. Jeb Bush should do the same thing in Florida. Apparently that's what it will take to make sure refugees have a place to stay and not get uprooted again..."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban

sistaluv 0 #57 September 4, 2005 I am in the hotel industry and those of you who are not do not understand. If you have "walk-ins" (hurricane victims) then you can only extend the reservations a certain amount of time. If you have a city wide sell out (football game) than you have to tell the walk ins that they have to leave the date that you have all the reservations. If not, you have all the people with the reservations come in and expect a room. If you do not have rooms for their reservations than by law you have to 1.) Pay for their room at another hotel. 2.) Provide transportation to the other hotel. 3.) Pay for one long distance phone call for them. And believe me when I say that if you tell every football fan that you do not have reservations for them because of the disaster they do not care. They will curse you out, call your corporate offices and complain, and give you two weeks worth of phone calls and writing letters to people apologizing. It's something hotels have to do. Sorry Do not agree...................................................................................... It's something hotels have to do. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Quote Not a personal attack on you at all ............ Just on the politics on what you wrote......but there's now way in hell i could justify that................. how would you like to sleep on a park bench because of a dam football game is going on ...F*ck that!!!! That's dangerous publicity for the people going to that football game (*&(%&&*+#%$#%^&^= No football stadium!) Like come on there is a time when rules (hotel Rules) are not in effect! Peoples lives are in destress and myabe the game should be relocated to a place where there's not starving, homeless people!!! I'd freak ...hardcore if i was there!!!! I think the people going to this game watches the news sometimes when its in between football games?? No pun intended...! RfukfreeflyingW 0 #58 September 5, 2005 you know whats funny about the media... its most of the time they got the story wrong.. I work at a hotel in tallahassee, and had umpteen calls about these "poor evacuees we were kicking out" we didnt kick anybody out! neither did the hampton in question. this was a bad rumor started by an old fuck that didnt bother to listen and a young manager that didnt express himself right. I know the manager at the hampton that you all seem to dispise(sp?). he was asked about having an evacuees reservation extended a week before the game, and the manager said, "well we are sold out that week end, but we are working on it and we'll see what we can do" I know this because I SPOKE TO HIM, and the front desk staff that was on duty. Im good friends with them. the guy got all pissed off and starting saying he was being kicked out! its bullshit. there are hardly any evacuees in tally anymore! many people were kind enough to cancel their rooms, but that particular hampton only needed to find 4 rooms! just 4 for people that needed to extend and they did. it has been made out to seem like our hotels are full of them, and really most have gone home. ALL VOLUNTERY! so stop blasting our hotels, because we have taken care of them, and have kicked no one out. yes we did need help by some people with rooms, but I dont know of 1 hotel in tally that kicked anyone out! stop believing everything u see in the news---- -God, you are the perfect amount of dumb... NPR went to several hotels, and talked to both the managers and the people there - and they agreed. They interviewed a few on-air, and the management was doing everything they could to get people taken care of - from getting 'normal' reservations to double up on rooms, to talking them out of coming in the first place, to setting up cots in function rooms. RfukfreeflyingW 0 #62 September 5, 2005 most people have gone home. just about the only people that are still here are from new orleans. everyone else has gone home to try an clean up/ see what happened. unfortunatly you cant even get into most of NO, so those poeple have had to stay, but that amounts to about 4 people per hotel hell I had atleast 10 people today come in and offer their rooms for them, after they already drove into town. but we already had everyone taken care of, so it wasnt needed. like i said before this was just a bad rumor that was started. it is nothing more then that.---- -God, you are the perfect amount of dumb... RfukfreeflyingW 0 #64 September 5, 2005 QuoteThen why are people in the hotel industry saying different!!! which ones? the ones that have posted on this board that dont actually work in tallahasse, or the ones that the chicago tribune supposedly talked to? cause im in the "hotel industry" and everyone I know in it have had people screaming at us all week for kicking these poor homeless people out. we have had media people pretending to be refugees, to see if they could get a room, and trying to find someone to say no, then it ends up all over the news. so when u got people trying to trick u so they can have a story, people yelling at you to ur face and on the phone for being insensitive to the homeless, when its not really the case. its a little hard not to take it personally.---- -God, you are the perfect amount of dumb...
