The Pope to exclude gay priests

>that's it, attack the person... very nice. good job. why not address his statement?

"What a stupid comment" addresses the comment, not the person. It is not a notably useful or intelligent reply, but it is still quite different than "you are stupid."

the second half of his statement went to the person and their inability to spell, therefore they have nothing intelligent to say... typical to paint christians that way... i seem to recall another heated thread recently where that was a major issue...

Oh so you need to spell to be smart? Well am i sorry mr know it all. You must of spent a lot of time in the wood shed or you still do.

I was not the one who was criticizing someone for bad spelling. Lord knows I'm a horrible speller. I was actually taking exception to the fact that a poster was trying to discredit what YOU said based on the fact that there were spelling errors in your post. What I was saying, if you wouldn't mind re-reading, is that the INTENT or MESSAGE of your post is what is important, not necessarily how it is (mis)spelled.

if you didn't get it yet, I was defending you!

btw, it's a nice wood shed. you should come by to visit...

And an even better treehouse!B|

you're too kind... I still tell everyone who comes over that we got over 600 #s of seething adult flesh, of both genders, in that treehouse, w/o nary a whimper from the thing. and, a couple years later, it still stands, ready for anything...:)

Did you ever make the entry bigger? I remember it was quite tight for me. I don't know how you got your fat ass up there.

BTW, is Monica up there yet running the place? That woman had trouble written on her face when she was a mere little tot. Be very afraid.[:/]

Lastly, does Gabe still like tit?:D

i honestly forgot what gabe used to call tit... jog my mammories... isn't that was he called YOU??? HA!!! he still prays for you and michelle in our nightly prayers. he's such a sweetie.

monica indeed gets up in the treehouse sometimes but she is a little afraid of heights still. you're right though, she IS trouble... she's got an explosive personality, like her daddy. not at all tame like her siblings...

i never did get around to making the entry bigger, i couldn't figure out how to do it w/o altering the main support beams straddling the trees... but the fat ass STILL fits up there!;) but not that often... one of these days I'm going to get stuck... you'll have to come cut me out...

It was me who Gabe called Tit...which was kind of strange considering Michele was there.;) Better work on that boy.:P

Tell those beautiful children of yours that I truly thank them for their prayers. No stronger prayers than from innocent children. And I pray for your family also.

If you do get stuck in the treehouse, I'll be glad to help. You'll just have to have Lori ready with the corndogs.;)

Oh well... Homosexuals or women, or anyone else who the Catholic Church discriminates against, are free to disassociate themselves from the Church if they don't like being considered inferior. Seems like a pretty simple solution to me.

It's not that simple. Organized religion has been coming after the gay community for years. They refuse to leave Us alone. They lobby to make homosexuality illegal, take away our jobs, have us evicted from our homes. I can't tell you how many times I've had wonderful religious folks get in my face, after coming into the Gay community, and yell in my face telling me I'm going to hell. They need to leave us alone.

You must be losing your passion for your religion. You have yet to come unglued in this thread ;):P

Hi Keith! Well actually, that last thread taught me a lot about losing my temper... it's not worth it anymore... not to say I won't loose it again, but hey, I'm making progress!B|

Truth is though, I have many friends here in Nashville who are gays and lesbians. And honestly, I love them dearly. One of them, Ginger, who no longer lives here, taught me more about God than most Catholics I know. I've really tried to see things from the homosexual perspective. I still don't agree w/ those who are living the lifestyle, but I see that it isn't my job to change them... it's just my job to love them. I haven't been in their shoes and I refuse to judge them. What I can't abide however, is gay men and women coming into the church and trying to change things within. My wife used to teach at a local catholic school, the pastor was gay friendly, and one of the other teachers was a lesbian. Sorry man, but she doesn't belong teaching religion in a place where she is living a life contrary to what she is supposed to be teaching. That duplicity is very confusing to gradeschool kids.

Still glued, michael

I don't see that as any more bizarre as a man who curses on occasion teaching children religion - or a man who works on Sunday teaching kids.

I have one last thing to say to this thread. I've said everything else I have to say regarding this subject in previous threads.

THE WHOLE GAY THREAT THING IS A BUNCH OF CRAP. Yes I shouted it! -because I'm tired of hearing the propoganda bullshit.

Have a nice day, carry on.

And as usual, if you don't have a good gay joke I don't want to hear it. :)
edited to add: You know who you are [plural] let's have a beer and, talk politics, religion, fagism, you name it :)

Sorry, Keith. I guess a was being a bit of an ass with that statement. I was writing a paper yesterday on "Sexual Orientation and the Family" (same-sex marriage, gay/lesbian parents, etc.) and another on how religion shapes a person's political beliefs, and I ended up tying the two together a bit and then feeling even more pissy than usual towards religion. (I'm all for being tolerant of other people's religions as long as they are not interfering with other people, but certain churches seem to have enough power that they use it to push their "morals" on everyone else.) It seems to me that certain religions have played a huge part in promoting inequality in our society (this current "war" on homosexuality is a perfect example). I suppose my "simple solution" comment was aimed at Catholic gays or women who felt the Church was being discriminatory by not allowing gay priests or female priests - just leave the Church. If enough people either leave or challenge some of their religion's archaic views, then we might make a little more progress in tolerance.

Nothing wrong with UU (by the way, it's spelled Unitarian). They're not my bag, but the people at the local congregation are involved in a whole lot of public benefit projects -- hunger, planting stuff locally, helping in the women's shelters. It might not be as oppositional as parading outside Planned Parenthood telling girls trying to get birth control that they're going to hell, but, well I think it does more good in the long run.

That works won't get you into heaven doesn't mean that you shouldn't do good. It doesn't mean that you can spend your money all on yourself. Being a good Christian should impel you to do good for others.

Why are we given this life if not to do good, rather than fomenting division and hate?

Keely you couldn't be an ass if you tried. You're a sweet heart. I understood what you were saying and I don't disagree. Perhaps I was being a bit of an ass - I was trying to say I wish we could all live and let live.
