busaunit 0 #1 September 25, 2005 Murdered Mother Not News? U.S. soldier shoots 56-year-old Iraqi woman to death in her home by Jane Saunders BAGHDAD, IRAQ -- (OfficialWire) -- 09/17/05 -- Not a single member of the so-called mainstream media have bothered to report the murder of an Iraqi woman in her home. U.S. forces shot and killed a 56-year-old Iraqi woman after they invaded her home during a random search Thursday morning. A reporter for Mafkarat al-Islam in Hit, Iraq published the story of the children of al-Hajjah Umm Khattab who said that U.S. forces on Thursday morning raided their neighborhood. "They stormed our family home," one of Umm Khattab’s sons said, "when the three of us were off at work." “Our mother asked the officer to wait a second before entering so that the women in the house could put on their veils and scarves,” he said. “But the [officer] refused, and he and his troops just burst into the house by force, pushing our mother, al-Hajjah Umm Khattab, aside. She responded by spitting in the [officer’s] face and insulting him and he shot her four times in the chest, killing her instantly.” According to a medical sources at the ar-Ramadi Hospital four bullets were found in the body of Umm Khattab. Local witnesses said they heard gunshots from inside Umm Khattab's house, but said they couldn’t get close enough to see what had happened until the U.S. soldiers had left. They said, though, that the U.S. soldiers left the house quickly after the shooting. The absence of reporting, by U.S. and UK news outlets, does not make the truth go away. The killing of Iraqis continues unabated and unreported. Though if one American dies, CNN runs an hour-long special. Iraq is America's shame and the world knows. The story's word ouf mouth from a kid. You think they're going to actually say, "yeah, my mom rushed the soldier, he felt threatened and shot." Of course he's going to say how the soldier ruthlessly murdered her. Point being, no one knows the truth behind it and an American soldier does not just shoot an unarmed woman b/c she spit at him. She probably made a move, maybe reached inside her clothing, or maybe just made a "violent" move at him...either way, when you're in Iraq in a small house and some person in long clohthing (who could easily be hiding something) comes at you...you shoot. tcnelson 1 #4 September 25, 2005 sounds like the one-sided reporting that activists are known for. any attempt to contact the military for a comment or is this just the "news" from an obviously biased woman? imo: if soldiers or police or anyone in the capacity of doing their inherently dangerous job does not get cooperation and gets assaulted, that official has every right to shoot the sorry-ass offender...multiple times."Don't talk to me like that assface...I don't work for you yet." - Fletch NBFT, Deseoso Rodriguez RB#1329

jkm2500 0 #8 September 25, 2005 QuoteAccording to a medical sources at the ar-Ramadi Hospital four bullets were found in the body of Umm Khattab. I am not going to speculate on whether or not this event happened. However, soldiers in the US Army (usually) carry one of two weapons for their personal weapon. Those two are the 9mm and many different versions of the M16. If shot at point blank range (with either) the only way to collect the bullets would be to dig them out of the wall. If you think that they would be able to find 4 bullets in a body, you have never seen these weapons at work. The primary purpose of the Armed Forces is to prepare for and to prevail in combat should the need arise. Any one willing to throw out lies should not be allowed to post and those who monitor these threads should not allow it to continue. JohnRich 4 #11 September 25, 2005 Quote(OfficialWire) Hey guys, if you want the source, just take a look at the web page for the cited "OfficialWire" source. Other headline stories include such breaking news items as: - Bush Clears Way For More Buggering By Saudis - Bush Drinking Again - Bush Is Insane - The Slime Artist So, from those headlines, you can see how much credibility this story deserves. None. That's probably the reason he didn't bother to provide a link - he wants to hide it, because it's embarassing. Web site: OfficialWire And what's really amusing is that when you click on the "About Us" button, they have all this high-minded talk about free press and free speech and the public right to know. Sounds great. But then they show their true colors with biased headlines like the ones above. This place is a joke! Question for busaunit: How many Moms died in the Sept. 11th, 2001 attacks? Did you react with outrage to those deaths?
JohnRich 4 #12 September 26, 2005 Addendum: Regarding the "Bush drinking again" story, we know from another thread that this "story" originated with the National Enquirer, which everyone knows invents stories at will, and no one takes seriously. Yet, "OfficialWire" thinks it important enough to make a headline news story. That puts their credibility in the same toilet where National Enquirer's resides. Furthermore, all you have to do is a quick Google search on the reporter "Mafkarat al-Islam" to get a quick taste of the kind of biased bullshit reporting this guy does. He loves to speak of things like male U.S. soldiers throwing female soldiers aside in their haste to escape the glorious rocketfire of the brave resistance fighters, blah blah blah... I think he was trained by Baghdad Bob, Saddam's former information minister.
