No, actually it's better for a vehicle thats used infrequently to have a full tank of gas because it prevents condensation from forming in the gas tank and causing rust which can then be sucked into the engine. I keep my Harleys gas tank filled over the winter too. I start the Harley and the Expedition up from time to time just to let them run a little. I also change the fluids in both before winter. I'd probably sell the beast if I didn't get much use out of it, but it's useful to have it there when I do want to use it. As an example, we are putting in a pretty large garden in the front yard right now and needed the 5000 lbs of topsoil I mentioned earlier. We also neede to about 1200 lbs of peat moss and about the same amount of manure. We went to U-haul to get a trailer so we could get it all in one trip and they were out of trailers and pick-up trucks so we hade to make 3 trips. Had I not had the Expedition, we couldn't have done anything. There's something to be said for the convenience of having it when you want it. I guess for the same reason you don't rent a plane. Agreed, but I wouldn't consider the tank a "mechanical part". Lots of working parts, from the engine camshafts and followers, and the transmission, to the various pumps and motors will have their life expectancy shortened, and various seals lose flexibility, if not used frequently. Best thing to get a long life is regular workout (just like your cardiovascular system).... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. I guess I should have been more specific in that it's the blatant wastefulness of people who really don't need them that bugs me. I know a couple who has one child and live in an urban area and both parents drive SUVs. I realize it's none of my business what other people drive, but when I see people consuming precious resources with no regard for conservation when it is completely unnecessary, it irks me and I can't help it. So a little bit later he sped up so that he could cross right in front of me thinking he would scare me. I laughed it off thinking what an idiot. Had he not sped away, if I would have hit him, I would have destroyed his little vehicle and probably not caused any damage whatsoever to my truck, and the funniest thing is that it would have been his fault. I think this guy was delusional and mistook me for some wussy driving a hybrid that he could bully around. However, it just seems strange that he could have made such a mistake. Go figure. BTW. my trust truck is the one on the right Towering over that little H2 .If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. Can't think of anything I need No cigarettes, no sleep, no light, no sound. I can see over him. Both can see and it doesn't hurt anyone. And it's safer for all.
