Funny how just 12 days ago you were outraged that Pelosi and Reid had NOT revealed the existence of Bush's snooping program: Pelosi declined to explain why she didn't make public her concerns about the authorization, which Democrats now say was an outrageous abuse of civil rights. Instead, Pelosi admitted keeping silent about the "unspecified activities" even though she now believes they may have been illegal, saying Bush's acknowledgment of the NSA program on Saturday "raises serious questions as to what the activities were and whether the activities were lawful." On Sunday, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid also admitted he kept silent about the controversial program, even though he was briefed on its existence "a couple of months ago... AlexCrowley 0 #12 December 30, 2005 Yes. I have no idea about who you are. I haven't started to consider who you are. I dont know whether youre male/famale/mail/tree/rock. I wont try either unless we're shaking hands at a DZ somewhere. Other than trying to have a conversation with you about stuff because you often say things I disagree with and want to think about, I really haven't considered who 'rushmc' is, might be, will be. When I want to know I will, but generally I try to avoid wanting to know stuff about people. So sorry, yeah, I read your posts and respond without thinking anything about who you may or may not be. For all I know you could be the POTS - so it would be pretty dumb for me to assume anything about anyone in any way, unless they offer the information themselves. shit i need a pill. funjumper101 15 #13 December 31, 2005 Where are the cries of outrage that the DOJ isn't investigating who authorized the illegal activities? Oh yeah, Bush already copped to it, so the DOJ already knows who is responsible. All that legal mumbo-jumbo doesn't apply when you are fighting the "war on terror". Why would the DOJ actually go after a lawbreaker that happens to be their boss? How silly it is to expect them to do their job. The Bush Administration = Anything goes, right up to a premeditated war of aggression, kidnapping, torturing, and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. The Constitution and all other laws are trivial bullshit when it comes to fighting the "war on terror". They just don't apply when we are at "war". I am finally beginning to understand Anvil, Rushmc, and the some of other folks here. The Constitution and all that other legal stuff have aged out and are no longer applicable. How could I not see that? We need to convert to a theocracy in the US ASAP. We already created one in Iraq. Clearly it is the wave of the future. Our current method of government doesn't work. There are too many pesky people trying to make our government follow its own laws. If we had a nice christian theocracy and a great man like shrub running it we would all be better off. It is so obvious to me now. We could kill or expel all those that don't think like us and make this a really great and unified country. And we can do it in the name of god. How cool is that? Thank you so much for your contributions here. You have another convert. The enlightenment I feel is awesome! Thanks again. I really appreciate it. How can I help further the cause? I have to go download some Rush Limbaugh and Michael Medved shows and get cracking on my education. I'll be setting up my Tivo tonight to record Fox news and the O'Reilly Factor. I promise I'll watch them over and over until they make sense. Are there any other sources of unbiased information that you can recommend? I'm stoked. Now the leak comes out about the "secret prisons" that the CIA is supposed to have operated, and the demoncrats are silent about going after whoever leaked it? -Jeffrey There should be concern or anger over any leaked classidied info but ( and maybe I haven't been too clear on this) the anger had better be for the right reasons and consistant. Ex: Plame, her name came out in the paper. An outing was charged. If this had been the case and Bush was involved I would have wanted all involved to go to prison. When all the facts are looked at in context. The whole thing was political in nature only. Plame sent Wilson, the commitee discounted most of Wilsons report, Cheany never sent him, in reality Wilson's repoort , in some respects, backed up the yellow cake claim. And then to top it off, Wilson had been parading his wife around the Washington party circle and introduciing her as his CIA employed wife?? Now, after all of this a party screams leak, leak someone has to go to jail, Bush is at fault?? My Bullshit meter exploded. This was a case of political gothcha only. Next case Secret Prisons and the NSA program. Congress knows about them, the NSA program has been veted through a court (more than once), they are highly classifed and someone leaks them. Now the Dems are silent?? I can only conclude that because of the way the media is presenting them the Dems percieve damage to Bush so , for the Dems as least, the ends justify them means. The leaker, in this case, did them a favaor so, the one that leaked this has done the country (and thier party) a favor so it is no big deal. As for the NSA program itself. I don't like it but, I do not know all there is to know about it either so the hell being raised about is comes down party lines. Instead of a debate of what is good for the country it is in another oportunity (for the Dems and the main media) to Get Bush That is my perspective (as best as I can put it to words) In this context how can I view any of this other than pure political bullshit? ...my fingers are tired and the backspace key is now worn out....."America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Well, it isn't uncommon for people to feel different about an ordinary leak and a whistleblower. I don't know much about any of the cases in question, but if a government employee reveals illegal actions by the government (contrary to leaking the name of an intelligence operative), this would per definition be a good thing, or...?HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...
