blakeburwell 0 #1 February 15, 2017 I have an infinity I-44 and i wish i had gone smaller when i ordered the container last year but i am wondering what the smallest, lightest weight reserve i can safely put in that reserve packing tray.....i say smallest and lightest but i mean lightest really.....just when i say lightest people start thinking about a large reserve that is light weight and so packs down to fit this tray, the most material for the least weight is not my goal, literally what reserve of the smallest and lightest size that would fit this reserve, so that the end weight is the lowest......hope I'm not confusing you and myself, ha
jcbfly 1 #2 February 16, 2017 I've packed the PD Optimum 193 and the Aerodyne Smart LPV 190 into I-44's with good results. Both of those are low pack volume, lighter weight canopies. I've also packed plenty of 170-ish F-111 reserves into that container. The smallest receive I have packed into an I-44 with good results is a PR 160. blakeburwell 0 #3 February 16, 2017 i have a 170 in it now, forget model, old reserve from 90s, definitely want to go smaller, the 160 pd seems like a good option
blakeburwell 0 #4 February 16, 2017 is the weight of the pd 160 going to be less than the weight of the 190 and 193 lightweight, low pack volume canopies?
blakeburwell 0 #5 February 16, 2017 are the weight of canopies online some where? searches just pull up wing loading details ..... when downsizing a 9 cell main, when u go down 20 sq ft, how much does that shortening of lines and lessening of material etc affect the weight? sammielu 3 #11 February 17, 2017 Why is weight so important? The difference isn't going to be more than 1lb. Have you contacted PD to ask them the weight?
blakeburwell 0 #12 February 17, 2017 no, i was going to give them a call today and i have a bad back and every pound counts :)
sammielu 3 #13 February 18, 2017 If you have a bad back I'd think you want the biggest safest reserve you can get. Invest in lighter weight clothing instead, a jeans and shoes weigh 3lbs - 5lbs each, your AAD is 2lbs+, whole rig is 23 - 25 lbs, canopy to canopy is going to be less than a pound.
