Yeah, but those are news outlets, and we all know that the news lies ;)

Headline: "Study: Democrats, Republicans Both Ignore Facts"

"In other news, a pandemic of people saying, 'No shit, Sherlock' is sweeping the nation. Democrats are quick to link this to the lack of affordable prescription drugs.

"'Obviously, hiccup, prescription drug benefits would assist people in achieving regular bowel movements, and the Bush Supreme Court is looking to obstruct the bowels of all Americans,' said Sen. Kennedy.

"Said a senior White House official, 'This shows the need for detailed surveillance of the American homes. OUr intelligence suggests that Al Qaeda operatives may have contaminated our food supply, leading to this shortage of shit. And 'Sherlock' is the code name for an Al Qaeda cel.'

When you discuss a topic with another person (live), they usually aren't listening, but merely waiting for their turn to speak. They have already decided their opinion, but are "informing" you.

My favorite internet type is the ones who present some "facts" and then, when questioned, reply as if you were being rude for asking further questions. A curt "I'm done with this thread".

If it is such a good idea, it will stand a little scrutiny.

A study conducted by a group at Harvards Kennedy School last year found that 76.5% of all facts are made up on the spot.

I heard it was 88.7% of the time :P
