dropoutdave 0 #4 February 15, 2006 I'm a smoker and banning in pubs and restaurants doesn't bother me too much really. The ban in members clubs, like my snooker club, does a bit though, that should be for the members to decide and if some members don't like it then they can go join a club that suits their needs. ------------------------------------------------------ May Contain Nut traces...... Now, if only they would ban cursing as well. I don't like having my wee little ears exposed to the degeneracy of cursers when I want to go have a drink at the local bar. If they would only make it illegal to curse, I could go out again. This ad space for sale.

CornishChris 5 #12 February 15, 2006 I assume he's been to Pubs & Clubs. Many restuarants in the UK have already banned smoking. Almost all shopping centres have. The biggy is the Pubs & Clubs and it has been a long time coming. I used to smoke like a trooper and whilst I gave up years ago I am still not 100% sure about this ban. It is great for 99% of places but smokers still need somewhere to go. For example The Cigar Bar on Wardour street is in for closure after this... CJP Gods don't kill people. britboynz 0 #16 February 15, 2006 NZ did this a year ago....the air's MUCH cleaner now and your clothes dont pong of smoke when you get home. The lack of smoke suddenly makes hitherto unnoticed smells (anal gasses and body odour) MUCH more noticeable although skydivers probably wont notice this so much since most seem pretty damn good at STINKING THE PLANE OUT on the ride to altitude
CornishChris 5 #17 February 15, 2006 Then please stay in your country and never ever come here. 'The sorry state of England' my arse. This is a great country. People do stand up and say stop it when they feel the need to. There were endless marches and demonstrations when labour wankers banned hunting. People are campaigning for their rights to smoke as well. You seem to imagine us all with our arses out letting the government fuck us in the hoop and that we have no will of our own. This is an uneducated and introspective view. For most people it is a good thing that smokers won't be able to smoke in pubs - why should I pay for their addiction with my health? Yes it seems crazy that a cigar bar will close, however it is a licensed establishment for drinking with Cigars as an ancillary stream. I fucking hate that place anyway - the last time I went there I rode all the way back in the taxi with the windows open in -5 temps to get the stench off my clothes (I had a business meeting there before you ask), and still changed when I got home. You are so quick to criticise our country as if that will cure the ills in yours. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones and TYPING IN CAPS DOESN'T MAKE IT RIGHT. C. People do stand up and say stop it when they feel the need to. Exactly. The problem is, the majority of the British public are thinking these kinds of encroachments by government are GOOD things, done for everyone's BENEFIT. So the fact remains that even though they should have already, no one yet is thinking, "Gee, this stuff we're applauding is exactly the kind of thing that 1984 was condemning." Keep it up. It's amusing as hell from across the sea. QuoteThere were endless marches and demonstrations when labour wankers banned hunting. People are campaigning for their rights to smoke as well. Would you mind telling me what fuckin' difference that's gonna make? Do you think those protests are going to get those policies rescinded? If not, then they are meaningless, and you WILL have to live under them. Right? So again, my point: not nearly enough Britons are opposed to the very encroachments of their government that will probably end up eventually making them slaves under a despotic system. QuoteFor most people it is a good thing that smokers won't be able to smoke in pubs - why should I pay for their addiction with my health? Did someone hold a (banned) gun to your head? Why'd you go in if you hate it? You lacking the strength of your convictions and saying, "Sorry, I will not go in there for a business meeting," is not the fault of smokers who are in there. Besides, I thought it was clear I was talking about banning smoking in places that sell the actual smoking products. That's just stupid. --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... rasmack 0 #20 February 15, 2006 QuoteExactly. The problem is, the majority of the British public are thinking these kinds of encroachments by government are GOOD things, done for everyone's BENEFIT. It is called a "democracy". People get what they ask for. You got an oil-money boy who wanted to finish daddy's war, and now the British are banning smoking. It is not my place to tell you what to vote, and you don't get to decide what the British should think.HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde...
