ccowden 0 #1 February 24, 2006 What I mean is, when I post in here, I get all worked up and my heartrate goes up and my blood pressure rises and I get all mad and in a bad mood. In fact, I am not sure why I ever post in SC becuase of how worked up I get. Do you "regular" SC posters get that way, or can you just stay calm and it doesn't affect you? I know everyone has their own opinions and beliefs, and I try not to judge. But every now and again, I get caught up in it and most times I end up feeling like an idiot for even posting something in the first place. So then after "arguing" in here, it takes a long time for me to calm down.

Nightingale 0 #4 February 24, 2006 No, I don't get worked up. Mostly, SC is good for a laugh, and it can be a way for me to examine my own points of view so I can state my position clearly. I like being challenged on my views, because it gives me the opportunity to examine them from a point of view that I may not have thought about. NWFlyer 2 #5 February 24, 2006 Only when I'm replying to you, Chris. Nah, I try not to. If something gets me that angry, I step away from the keyboard and wonder what the hell I'm doing. I'm usually not an angry person, so if I'm getting worked up, something ain't right and I need to regain perspective. That goes for any forum, though, and with SC, I tend to stick to a very few issues that I know at least a teeny little bit about."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke

RhondaLea 4 #9 February 24, 2006 Never. It's all about the argument itself. For me it is primarily entertainment. I know I'm not going to change anyone's opinion, so the point is just to make the best argument I can. I do get a bit annoyed with myself, though, when I miss the point or have trouble writing a coherent reply. Edited to add: What Rebecca said. I can't stand arguments that are about the psychology of the poster. Although...I did make an exception to that when it came to artistcalledian. rlIf you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. ccowden 0 #10 February 24, 2006 I think that is what bothers me most, when I write a reply, then there is a response, then I am like "No, I meant...", then a reply, then..... It's hard to do on the computer and it gets me irritated.
Dolph 0 #11 February 24, 2006 Being in SC is like playing Fireball. You don't know if that burning fuel soaked roll of toilet paper will explode and put you on fire until a little after you've given it a good kick. Having said that, some threads are actually a little educational. It's nice to get various (and often extremely diverse) opinions. And add a little fuel here and there
ROK 0 #12 February 24, 2006 I find it fascinating, and humbling at the same time. There are some very intelligent people who post here, and some very intelligent angry people too. Posting on this form is almost akin to being in a live firefight. You never know where the next round will hit, or if you'll make it out alive. There is a very specific adrenaline flow involved when debating with those who skydive, as well as jumping with them. No wonder I love this sport! It's hard to do on the computer and it gets me irritated. It can be irritating unless you really like to write. I have days when I write lengthy posts and realize that somehow I have managed to make a completely incomprehensible argument. Sometimes I delete and start over, but sometimes I just give it up and go make a cup of tea. Other days, I don't notice I'm making an ass of myself, and I post crap. I do actually try to learn something here, and sometimes I do, if only that there are certain people I never want to meet, no matter how long I live. Other times, I find that people will make interesting points I've never thought of, and that makes it pretty worthwhile. Trying to keep up makes me tired, though. rlIf you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

livendive 8 #15 February 24, 2006 I get so worked up that sometimes I can't keep my hands off myself. It's not like I'd really want to, but sometimes the setting is kind of inappropriate, you know, when there's someone in my office, or visiting at my house. I try to make them understand that I'm just too worked up to restrain myself, and that there's nothing wrong with a little self-love anyhow, but.... oops, I got cut this post off here. I'm getting worked up again. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
