ViperPilot 0 #54 March 2, 2006 Well just b/c he said "BUSTED" doesn't necessarily mean he served or that he's accusing you of not serving. He's just making a statement based on someone else's.

mnealtx 0 #66 March 2, 2006 QuoteQuoteLike I said, I knew what you were getting at, but you're misunderstanding their point. There is definitely a pride and respect thing going on with that - a "nobody else does it OUR way" sort of feeling. It's not saying that other branches/MOS/AFSC/Rates aren't deserving of respect - I don't think you'll see ANY of the veterans here on the forums saying that - but more of a recognition of the EXTRA sacrifice and work that went into earning those special insignia. No, see you just don't get it. They didn't put any EXTRA sacrifice and work into that insignia. It's just brainwashing. All of that extra training and running and everything. It was all brainwashing. That's it. Actually, they DO put extra work and sacrifice into that insignia - those units aren't something that you go in to your recruiting office and sign up for - they're volunteer units and those insignia ARE earned, whether you like it or not. To try another analogy - I suppose that the football player that sits the bench for 4 years should be equally as eligible for the Heismann trophy as the quarterback that played every game those same 4 years?Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. Hawkins121 0 #67 March 2, 2006 QuoteQuote The airborne train and work harder than leg units... its a fact... the airborne are considered elite by the brainwashed... so yes, they get more respect from the brainwashed than your average truck driver. someday you'll realize that it's all the same bs, you just took it way more seriously than everyone else. You are right, its all the same BS... I guess you could call a few battalions from the 422nd logistics division and have them team up with Headquarters company 187th Admin to take an airfield anywhere in the world within 18 hours. DexterBase 1 #69 March 3, 2006 Respect has little to do with what outfit you belong to. Respect from other warriors comes from your actions when shit really mattered. What you do when the bullets are in the air and the blood is pouring into the sand... that's what matters. Any service member deserves the respect and thanks of every American who who lives on our soil. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a (combat) veteran who believes that actually pulling triggers is equal to shelving pallets in a warehouse. Sure, each one is vital, but they're not the same. One can be done by almost anyone, the other... But since when was an ARMY unit the epitome of manliness?
