Christian in a Muslim Country? You're Fucked, thanks for playing!

Recommended Posts

KABUL, Afghanistan — An Afghan man who allegedly converted from Islam to Christianity is being prosecuted in a Kabul court and could be sentenced to death, a judge said Sunday.

The defendant, Abdul Rahman, was arrested last month after his family went to the police and accused him of becoming a Christian, Judge Ansarullah Mawlavezada told the Associated Press in an interview. Such a conversion would violate the country's Islamic laws.

Rahman, who is believed to be 41, was charged with rejecting Islam when his trial started last week, the judge said.

During the hearing, the defendant allegedly confessed that he converted from Islam to Christianity 16 years ago when he was 25 and working as a medical aid worker for Afghan refugees in neighboring Pakistan, Mawlavezada said.

Afghanistan's constitution is based on Shariah law, which states that any Muslim who rejects their religion should be sentenced to death.

Hmmm, Islam the all-tolerant religion eh? Peaceful eh? Now yes, this is Afghan law and not necessarily ALL Islamic law, but just the fact that this guy is being sentenced to death just for merely being a Christian...please tell me all about how Islam has not persecuted Christians. Need we bring Blutarsky in here to remind everyone of SEA? This is just sickening...and for all the good Muslims out there, sorry for these guys giving you a bad name. However, this just shows how terrible this religion and its related laws can be. Fucking ridiculous.

I am not up to date on my islam, but it is my understanding that merely being a non-muslim is not punishable by death. Converting from islam to another religion is however punishable by death. Non-muslims are not punished so long as they subordinate themselves to muslims. Still sucks of course, but then I am merely an infidel and too ignorant to understand the bigger picture with respect to the Religion of Peace.

To plagiarize a few words from that great American Islamic thinker Louis Farrakhan, Islam is "a gutter religion". The whole faith from start to finish is a ripoff of Judaic and Christian scriptures. And a 7th century A.D. religion claiming an ancient Jewish city like Jerusalem as a "holy site" ? Complete bullshit.

These people are the enemy. That's the way they want it, that's the way they get it.

I just hate it when people bitch b/c they just have no idea how good they have it here compared to other countries...regardless of what kind of policy ANY WH administration is pumping out.

And what does separation of church and state mean to you?

To secular humanists, it should mean that the federal holiday of Christmas should be renamed, our money should be removed of 'in God we trust'...

Of course you can advocate to do these things, but that is going beyond the intended scope of the separation doctrine. I contend that using the separation doctrine as the basis for this position is flawed, it never meant what the secularists now claim.

And the secular humanists wonder why people get so worked up about the separation of church and state around here...:S
People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

Why do we compare ourselves to Afghanistan? Why not compare ourselves to Denmark or Finland?

We're like to kid who gets a B in class and instead of trying harder to get thet A, says, "Well look there's that kid who's failing all of his classes. At least I'm better than him."

We work with a limiting philosophy, but it works out, since we are a lazy as shit culture.

edit to add: i get denmark and finland from here: http://www.rsf.org/article.php3?id_article=11715

Yo !

What's so shocking here? In Sharia law countries this is equivalent to treason. You are not surprised that treason is punished by death in USA, right?

Of course it's nice to have a separation of church and state... but even in USA there is no clear cut. I suspect that you've committed multiple felonies by engaging in oral and, god forbid, anal sex on US soil. These barbaric Christian sodomy laws are still on the books in many states, even after a recent SCOTUS decision. I apologize in advance if it isn't so and you never got a BJ ;)

So this is their way of life. Just leave them alone.

bsbd!

Wow, so you have no problem w/ them killing this dude soley b/c he's not part of the mainstream religion? Just b/c it's their way of life doesn't make it right...and I mean that in the everyone has some "God-given rights"...no matter where they live. It's barbaric and wrong.

You might want to recheck your sources on that one. Farrakhan claimed it was Judaisam, not Islam that was the "gutter religion".

those laws may be on the books, but when was the last time they were enforced??

Are you kidding me? In Virginia, where i live, i recall both sodomy and adultery laws used in 2003. That last adultery case was successfuly prosecuted. VA appeals court upheld sodomy conviction in 2000.

They do use jail and fines instead of stoning, though. Thank Jesus! :P

ViperPilot: they don't kill a guy because he's not part of muslim religion. They kill him because he defected.

So, did you commit those multiple felonies ? :)

bsbd!

You’re right to a point.

If you are off another religion that believes in one god you are fine and considered equal as many of my Christian friends in Iran were treated fine. There beliefs were also respected they were allowed to drink and make wine. However if you do decide to become a Muslim then decide to change your faith they do punish it by death. Islam asks that you understand it before you become a Muslim.

However it is just wrong, and people should have the freedom to choose their own religion maybe that’s why I live in the good old USA.

You have a very good point about the difference between Christian and changing faith fron Islam. But how about the people who didn't get a choice?

I don't know about Afganistan, but in Malaysia and Singapore, if your parents are Muslim, you are born Muslim, so you don't have a cholce. Also, people who marry into a Muslim family has to convert to Islam. You can reject Islam, but in Malaysia and Singapore i don't think you get killed for it.

Reminiscent of the Inquisition, isn't it. Then it was Christians toturing and killing heretics.
