There IS a problem with global warming... it stopped in 1998

Wake me up when heat kills more than cold.

In Bihar (India) , however, one of the poorest areas of the country, 49 people died on Saturday in just 24 hours

France's 2018 scorching summer heatwave claimed 1,500 lives

Australia heatwave

Extreme temperatures hot or cold kills lots of people every year.

I read a couple of stories also and the overriding theme is that if you're comparing winter and summer then more people die during cold weather because that's the season during which there are more cases of things like the the flu.  However, when it comes to comparing flashes and extremes, many many more are killed during a heatwave than during a cold snap.

What exactly does a First Responder have to do with Global warming that stopped in 1998?

look at the quote dude! Someone wanted to argue heat VS cold related emergencies... Which of course is silly.

To all of those that keep saying "nearly all scientists agree....."

Hi rush,

Re:  'Agriculture Department buries studies showing dangers of climate change.'

Of course, this is one way to get agreement.

NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, if you hide all the science, you can say whatever you want, and agree with almost anything!

"Climate change is caused by trans soldiers.  You can't prove me wrong because there's NO SCIENCE!"

Svalbard's temperature has risen 4C since 1971

Quote

Since 1971, temperatures here have risen by 4C, five times faster than the global average. In the winter, when the changes are more marked, it has gone up by an astonishing 7C. These are increases that the rest of the world is not expected to experience until the 22nd century. They are far ahead of most computer simulations. Yet there is still more to come. On current trends, Svalbard will hit 10C of warming by 2100.

The global average temperature for June 2019 was the highest ever recorded for June.

Can you give a source for that?  I only see May data on NOAA and that would be quite a jump in averages.

Edit for the readers:  Of note, NOAA takes sea temperatures into account (which lag behind air temperatures).  Since it's the air and sun that warms the sea it won't be far behind although that's typically metered by the hot air also melting the ice sheets which in turn cool the ocean in some areas.

Yeah, I read those.  Curious about the discrepancy with the NOAA data but assume it's because they include sea temps too which don't have as much variation as the surface air temps cited in these sources.

I believe this is what we refer to as a trend, as it in getting warmer, as in the data Hutch was looking for in his "eating crow" rant:Monthly global-mean and European-mean surface air temperature anomalies relative to 1981-2010

Extreme heat is the deadliest form of extreme weather in the United States, beating hurricanes and floods in a typical year.  Be sure to click on the link.

I was reading about this earlier.  The 2003 heatwave in Europe killed 70,000 people.  The worst blizzard in modern history killed 400 people.

You forgot about the record breaking/ road closing snow out West!

Good job, you're starting to identify the sort of things that an unstable jet stream creates.
