There are deadbeat people in and from every country, and of every color. I personally have known more white American deadbeats than any other color or nationality. But somehow I don't think that all white Americans are like that. Illegal immigration is a problem. Don't hire, send them back, and try to make it so that the border areas are more attractive so that people stay there. Having a reason to stay in Mexico or Central America or Canada is good. Maybe one answer is to have children born to people who are here illegally not be US citizens. It's a departure, but might be worth it. But this vitriol isn't good. Turning it into a felony is not good; it's needless escalation, and designed to intimidate by superior power and force. That's what a bully does. A strong person determines what needs to be done, whether it's worth the cost, and then does it in the way that makes it most likely to stick. Turning people who are already living sub-rosa into formal criminals isn't going to change anything; it'll just whip up more self-righteous fervor. And they run away from the police. Some of them get hurt; some of the ones who get hurt don't have insurance, but they get treated anyway. Yes, at taxpayer expense. They're somewhat within our community, so this is something that we could be expected to do something about in a self-policing situation. Funny how some folks are so much more worried about illegal Mexican immigrants (they're not nearly as worried about Canadians somehow). Yes, I think prejudice is part of it.
