I agree. In the meantime we should be VERY sure that it's not happening in other places - which is why General Michael Hagee went to Iraq to make it very clear that such things would not be tolerated. If he is successful, that's a good thing. I'm glad they are taking this seriously.

That is a very lame attempt at a defense.
If found guilty, the troops should face UCMJ. Of course some here already found them quilty.
And an IED is a weapon that will allow you to return fire. So some of those "unarmed" might not have been.
But unlike most on here, I will not absolve them nor convict them of their actions based on a news report.

You are defending the cold-blooded killing of Iraqis? I fear that if enough people start taking that approach, we are going to lose this war in a big way.
I would prefer to see all the facts and interview every witness before coming to the conclusion it was a " cold blooded murder".
I don't know if you ever served but if you had you would realize the fear put into our troops about illegal killings. This fact makes the entire incident a bit suspicious.
I am not in favor of prosecuting troops just to satisfy politicians, and or Iraqis, if there was a crime then let it be investigated.
I would also like to point out that if an IED goes off in front of your home there is a high degree of certainty that you either witnessed it being placed or were involved in it directly.

Don't confuse evidence that a crime has been committed with evidence of individual guilt.
I think it has been shown with certainty that the abuses took place. Proving a case against specific individuals is obviously different. After all, OJ's wife was definitely murdered but no-one has been convicted.
