Maybe I am misunderstanding the article but from what I can see it does not say that the murders did not occur. All it is saying is they can understand how it could occur in such a hostile environment am I right on that or did I misread?

the issue at hand was not whether or not it occurred but whether or not the Marine in question was guilty of a crime.

That is why it was not addressed.

JAG lawyers do not grandstand, nor make statements to the press regarding anything but he case at hand.

Well if the people were killed, but the government is letting the guy go due to stress and situations I really don’t see a cause for celebration.

The reason our marines are in such environments is because of our faulty intelligence, so when people die that other wise would still be alive it is a sad day. Even more so when our government holds no one accountable.

No different then when a cop gets off for shooting an unarmed man 42 times.
It shows that we don’t believe in justice and will treat our own on a different set of rules then we expect others to follow.

As stated before when we make excuses for a bad apple other then proper punishment it makes all of the good guys look just as tainted.

Again I understand/ or can try to understand the difficulties of urban warfare, however the fact is we did not need to be there in the first place.

I am not surprised at this result as we have given ridiculously light sentences when our troops have been convicted of war crimes.

What was the last one 5 years for murder.

I would be very pissed if someone killed my family and was let go to due to bull shit reasons.

I wonder why the next of kin to the dead Iraqis refused to have an autopsy performed in order to collect evidence that this incidence was in fact a murder?

Heck, they could not even agree on how many people were dead.

There were far too many lies told in order to bring the charges on these Marines.

I don’t know all the details of the incident actually I don’t know much about the incident.

The article makes it sound like the marine was responsible for the death of 12 people.

Is that fact or assumption?
