Cool web site shows what could have been done with the money.

I wonder why we never feel strongly about helping. We would have never spent this money on Aids, or higher education, but we have no issues about using this money to kill.

The only thing wrong is with your lack of knowledge about what America spends its money upon. We spend plenty on AIDS, and helping others around the world, in numerous ways.

Get your head out of the sand and educate yourself to the facts, and cease your knee-jerk bashing of America at every turn.

The fact that you chooes to be here, instead of your home country of Iran, kind of says a lot already.

How much does Iran spend on treating AIDS around the world? Does Iran provide free public education for all females?

Oh Intelligent and educated one (wait for laughter to stop):D:D:D

*** Does Iran provide free public education for all females?***

Iran offers free public education to males and females, and free higher education as well. In Iran Females have the same rights as males but off course you wouldn't know that. Guess what John they can drive and count for more then 50% of the people in universities. Why are you so uninformed?

Now lets see if you can answere my questions.

What the hell does comparring the US and Iran have to do with the topic in this post?

Other then your hatred for me is there anywhere you see me compare the two contries in this thread?

Grow up man. Your opinion has become nothing but a source of laughter to me. You can at least try to sound smart.:S

In case you forgot what this thread was about.

We have spent $286,429,796,292 on the Iraq war witch I can easily say most people think was wrong to start.

It is good to think what the money could have done

If any of this information in my thread is incorrect feel free to point it out.

But I mean come-on man where do you see me say Iran is better or make any such comparison.

The only time I mentioned Iran was to answer your question.

Really grow up.

Iran is worse? Is that a variation on "Clinton did it first"?

You appear to have totally missed the point. The funds wasted on this unnecessary war could have been used for 28 years of AIDS eradication efforts, among other things.

so, it's ok to spend all those hundreds of billions on war, just because you spend alot of money on good causes also ???? :S:S:S

are you saying that spending money on bad things is ok, even though you could have spent that money on good things just because you happen to spend other money on those good things as a side issue?

> We have spent $286,429,796,292 on the Iraq war....

I could think of one way we could have done it much cheaper, and prevented us from ever being in Iraq or Iran for that matter within our life time, but I digress.:P

How much money did it cost us for 911. How much did 4 aircraft cost and the lives onboard as they came down on three seperate buildings with additional lives being blown out the windows and many having to become BASE jumpers because they did'nt want to burn to death.

How much did it cost to clean it all up, bury the dead and rebuild one of three buildings. Oh forgot there was an additional building that collapesed in NY because it suffered exstinsive damage do to the WTC falling on it, toss in another 400 million for that building.

Several Billion in payments to surviving family members, as well as many millions more in life insurance payments / health insurance payments.

How many children were left without Mom or Dad?

So if your so concern about the money, lets finish it, shoud'nt take more than a 100 million more to complete the job, just want be able to visit the middle east for a while. OK OK I'm just kidding everybody take a deep breath and run like like hell.:P

Cool, you're putting false words into JR's mouth (some kind of justification discussion) on his response putting false words in Darius' mouth (some rip on assuming we don't spend on other causes) on his response putting false words in JR's mouth (playing some kind of race card) on his,.......

This is getting a bit tricky to follow without a chart of some kind.

What did Iraq have to do with 9/11? I fail to see the relevance of your diatribe.

One more liberal proving that debate and differing ideas are not welcome. We all know you think that know one knows what is best for the rest of us than a good, loyal, US hating liberal. Do yourself a favor and share your laughter:S

No, it's deliberate right wing propaganda. If you tell the big lie often enough, people will believe it (paraphrased from Josef Goebbels).

what is better .....................

1. spending $200 billion a year on good causes and a further $200 billion fighting a war in Iraq, or .....

2. spending $400 billion a year on good causes and using politicians and the CIA to dispose of Sadam Hussain?

Your position is noble but hypothetical. Of course it would be better to spend money on humantarian causes. But to think that if we chose to do that we would be fine.

Sorry, but in this real world there are people out there that want to destroy the US (and they did way before Regan, Clinton or GWB) and nothing, especially not good intentions, can change that fact.

If there is to be a fight we take it to them or we die here.
To me the choice is very clear.

What makes you think that Iraq caused 9/11? To the degree that it deserves what it is getting now, which is more attention than Afghanistan?

You can say he sponsored terrorism; however, others sponsored it too. Is it just that we decided to pick Iraq? It was their (un)lucky day?

There is not a significant amount of evidence supporting that Iraq had a causative effect on 9/11. They were not Iraqis. They were not trained (at least mostly) in Iraq. They were not funded (at least mostly) by Iraq. Iraq has not been calling for the destruction of the US.

War is not cool. It's not the "making of a man" or of a president. It's the worst of all possible ways to settle a difference, and should be the absolute last resort. It shouldn't just take "they told me I could, and I'm the president so I decided to." That's a stupid rationale.
