mnealtx 0 #51 June 28, 2006 The Kimber Pro Carry is a sweet little gun... well balanced in the hand and good accuracy. Dave, we've gotta try to get a range day in at some point...Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
warpedskydiver 0 #52 June 28, 2006 The smith is nice and so is a Kel-Tec if you have smaller hands. I would suggest the revolver in at least .357 mag, that way you can practice with cheaper .38s and not spend so much on .357. The Kel Tec is a very light and reliable gun and I think it is offered in .40s&w as well as 9mm.

Sounds good to me, since I work nights we can sneak one in some mid morning while you're in town.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." micro 0 #55 June 28, 2006 if you're stuck on revolvers, go w/ the s&w. revolvers are extremely simple and almost NEVER misfire or jam. i'm much more partial to semi-autos, and you seriously don't need to worry about being blown over by recoil. depending on the type of load you use (bullet) it can be very manageable. the suggestion of going to a range and "test-driving" different models and calibers was very sound. sorry if any of this is repeat info... Armour666 0 #56 June 28, 2006 Both are reliable and both will do a good job, I would pick witch ever feels most comfortable in your hands. Revolvers are reliable and will do as needed in high stress situation. The draw back is limited number of rounds. As for an automatic unless you shoot it often and practice stoppage drill's (something I rarely see people do) it's not a good choice. I don't know what your experience is in shooting. My personal choice for hand gun due to my smaller hand size, again it's personal choice is 10mm p226. I shoot is almost weekly and every other trip to the range I use random dummy training rounds mixed in the live so I will not know when a stoppage miss fire will happen a practice clearing drill’s (I've seen some one mention using a round with the powder removed NEVER do this!!!!! the primer has enough power to send the bullet in to the barrel with the next round after clearing causing a catastrophic failure!!!! use proper training rounds if you are going to do this.) Biggest thing to do is shoot shoot shoot and then start deliberate shooting in various positions that you may find your self in. on the ground one handed , sitting , ect... also work on shooting with weak hand and shooting close range with out using the sights. There are some great shooting courses like black water tactical ect that would be good to investigate.SO this one time at band camp..... "Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most." masterrig 1 #57 June 28, 2006 Quoteglocks suck get a sig _____________________________________ Interesting. My wife, who is a police officer, carries a .40 Glock. Has fired hundreds of (range) rounds through it and has never had a problem of any kind. Yes, Sigs are good, I'll agree with that. Chuck

I'm looking to buy. ~ Lisa __________________________________ My wife, carried a, S&W .357 snub-nose six shot as an off duty weapon for years and loved it. She was especially fond of the comfort in her hand as well ast the accuracy. There's a bad guy somewhere with a plastic hip and a permanent limp as a result of that pistol. I've shot it and really like it. Easily concealed, too. Chuck

skydivermom 0 #60 June 28, 2006 I understand why this got sent to SC...but I've got to say...it's the most civil, non-controversial thread I've ever seen here. Seriously, isn't the Sig P232 available in .380ACP? Or perhaps Heckler & Koch's P2000SK which comes in a choice of calibre? Just a thought from a know-nuttin' Brit. Mike.
