Honest question about ISREAL

Recommended Posts

Why should the average U.S.citizen care about what happens to and with the government of Israel.

We seam so hung up on aid, welfare to the state of Israel but I never hear why.

I am not anti-Israel but it seams we are always told by the Washington crowd we must support and stand with the government but I have never heard why.

This is an honest question with no hidden agenda just figure someone out there knows.

Good timing. The answer is not that far off of why our government is interested in any particular issue. Well financed lobbyists, specifically AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee).
If you want to hear an interesting piece about them listen to this.

One reason I can think of is that they are our only true freinds in the Middle East. Take Iran for instance with their continued effort to become a nuclear power. Its a problem that we are currently struggling with. However, anyday now Israel may loose its patience and carpet bomb their nuclear power plants because they fear Iran's nuclear build up even more than we do. If and when they do, it will take a huge load off our shoulders. Bottom line is the more Israel fights those Muslims Terrorists, the less we have to.
Ofcourse we will have the Muslim appologists who either have another agenda or are living in lala land, who will suggest that if we let the Muslims destroy Israel, that they wouldn't come for us afterwards. As you can see I am not one to subscribe to that line of thought.

actually I am not sure why we support them as much as we do.

I think their country/government is much better then any other middle east country.

and cynically.... isreal gives muslim terrorists something to hate and attack... this keeps much of the world relatively safe from terrorist attacks.

Eliot Cohen, a professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies, says the article was anti-Semitic.

That seems to be the stock answer to any one whom criticizes Israel or any group that happens to be of the Jewish fait. No matter how valid the criticism is your considered anti-Semitic. I don’t know but that’s getting to be old.

I think there is a huge point that you might be missing.

We supported Israel. Israel has a history of preemptive attacks, of torturing people they have captured, and not to forget general cruelty to anyone who is not one of there own.

I don’t think it is that hard to comprehend why we are hated by the Middle East. Israel especially in the beginning used our help our weapons to commit these crimes, and we had no issue with it. In fact most people have never even heard or seen footage of what the Israeli military has done. I would bet that if the average American heard both sides of the story they would not agree to wsend the millions of dollars we send to Israel every year.

I would also bet that if a country decided to supply a another country with weapons far more advance then us and watched us get slaughtered with out any issue we would have the same hate towards them that the Palestinians have towards our goverment.

Not really hard to understand

Well I support Isreal, because of Gods promise, he has a special place for them in his big old heart. And its never been very good to go against God and those he has promissed to protect.

Not to mention they are some really nice people living there and they have a very good Army, Air Force, Navy, and there is that little group known as the Masad, I don't want to get them mad at me. They might cause me pain, and I can't stand pain, it hurts me.:P

As Rebecca would say, "Thats all I got to say about that".

Well that's just the nature of war, anybody who's ever been in one (I have not) will tell you that. What you won't see is Israelis blowing themselves up in crowds of teenage kids outside discos, or on city buses, airliners, in restaurants, at weddings, etc., sickening etc.

Maybe it's because Israel's also been busy builing a modern state and agricultural country out of a desert. All the Palestinians are good at is killing people and complaining.

A friend of mine who lived over there said that in the neighboring Arab states, Palestinians caught outdoors after curfew are shot on site. And that's by their beautiful Islamic brothers.

The Palestinians had theur big chance in the nineties. And they blew it. Completely bigtime, they blew it.

replace the word Isreal with Palestians and your little story is still true. There is no innocent victim in the middle east.

Israel has a history of preemptive attacks

Quote

http://www.wordreference.com/definition/preemptive

preemptive
A adjective
1 preemptive

designed or having the power to deter or prevent an anticipated situation or occurrence; "a preemptive business offer"

Simple logic would suggest that preemptive attacks would not occur if there was nothing to preempt.

Are you kidding? I am sure he can come up with plenty of links to stories that support this. However, I am sure they will be websites written from the Palestinian perspective showing only half truth's. Imagine the current situation. A couple of years from now when people don't remember the story. He can post a link showing the Israeli's blowing up the bridges in the Gaza strip, the Hamas headquarters and driving Israeli tanks into the Gaza strip. I am sure however, that it will convieniently leave out what Hamas did to cause this. In this case that would be kidnapping that Israeli soldier and using him for ransom.

I wonder why no one asked the professor to define "semitic".

I've read several articles from this site. Believe it or not, they're pretty reasonable in their view, which is quite different from our view.

Here's one from the BBC about the newest resolution.
I guess that means that Israel probably now has at least 4 times as many resolutions against it as Iraq had.

I think we have a love/hate relationship with Israel that benefits both sides. We supply them with arms and technology, they sometimes perfect them and provide us with intelligence and the occasional dirty trick. I don't think they particularly like us, but we need each other. Some Americans resent their high standard of living as a result of American aid and some of us admire them because they have managed to survive wars when outnumbered and surrounded. To some it's the Jesus thing and we must defend them no matter what. To me it looks like the harder Israel gives in to its neighbors, the more they want to kill them. grammer correction

I heard the same story on NPR this morning. I've been rather skeptical of the United States' relationship with Israel given their human rights record, their nuclear warchest, and the hostility they envoke in the region. I read the first third of the paper over lunch and I found parts of it rather staggering. So far I've found it to be pretty objective. Citing facts and statitisics for both sides of the argument. I'm looking forward to finishing it.

My opinion, Isreal is, right now, the only stable democracy in the middle east.

When they emerged, unified from the strife as a result of the failed UN mandate to have a palestinian and Israeli state co-exist, the US was the first to recognize them as a sovereign state, and the first to set up diplomatic relations with them.

Of couse, this also happened in the very recent wake of WWII, and there were extreme sensitivities and massive political trump cards that were played out.

I hope Israel kicks ass.
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh

Don't worry they will. It's like putting five 4 year olds up to fight Mike Tyson. We are the strongest military on this planet and Israel basically has the same shit we do. I really don’t see how there could be any pleasure from seeing Israel “kick ass” as it is not a surprise. Most of the times the Palestinian throw rock and get slaughtered by the Israeli solders. To that add a raciest government and belief system that you and only your kind are the chosen people and you have a very strong indiscriminate killing machine.

Will Israel ever have peace?

I don’t think so. We have realized no matter how much brut force you have you can not change what people want. Israeli can build a wall around them self and they will dig tunnels to get to them, and I can not blame them. If you stole my house and killed my family I would want you dead no matter what the cost.

Israel doesn’t deserve peace because they are the reason there is no peace for the Palestinian.

You don’t get peace by killing peoples children and destroying their homes.

Really if your friend said it then it must be true.:S

There are diaries after dries on line that show how the Palestinians are treated by the Israelis.

Just do a search on Google. There not written by Arabs but by your fellow Christian Americans. Maybe you will believe them?

each one saying "He hit me first!"

frankly I'm sick & tired of both of them.
