rickjump1 0 #1 July 10, 2006 CNN reports that a federal judge has ruled that the raid on Rep William Jefferson's office was legal. http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/07/10/jefferson.ruling.ap/index.htmlDo your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts. kmcguffee 0 #2 July 11, 2006 Since when did we start calling a search warrant signed by a judge a "raid"? The media will do anything to attract attention and start controversy. I'm waiting to see how this guy explains the $90,000 found in his refrigerator. That's where I keep my savings. How about you? "Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do." azdiver 0 #3 July 11, 2006 its called a raid becuse it was a democrate that it happened to, it deosent matter what laws he broke, hes supposed to be imune from the law. if it was a republican there would just be another example of the crooked ness of consevative and christians and how bad bush islight travels faster than sound, that's why some people appear to be bright until you hear them speak
rickjump1 0 #4 July 11, 2006 I like the word "raid" especially if the press originated use of the word. Maybe it will enlighten these "untouchables", both democrats and republicans.Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts. I'll put money on him inserting "race" as a factor at some point. A big chunk of my savings is in an ING Direct "Orange" savings acct, hard to beat 4.35%.So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! miked10270 0 #7 July 11, 2006 Quoteits called a raid becuse it was a democrate that it happened to.... But hasn't his support among his peers been universal - regardless of party? He's not a democrat (or a republican), he's a crook. He's simply looking for some way to get out from under being caught. It's interesting to see who DOES support him. It begs the question "WHY" are they supporting him. The answer is obvious and ugly. As for the veiled threats to "examine" the budgets of the agencies involved if this investigation & prosecution is continued... Isn't that extortion? The warrant was for a CRIMINAL investigation and I'm glad it's being upheld. Next stop should be expulsion from his party & removal from office.... Closely followed by jail... THen a look at his supporters should prove interesting. Mike. Taking the piss out of the FrenchAmericans since before it was fashionable. Zipp0 1 #12 July 11, 2006 Why no raids on the K Street Project? That fiasco involved much larger sums of money. -------------------------- Chuck Norris doesn't do push-ups, he pushes the Earth down.
miked10270 0 #13 July 11, 2006 QuoteQuoteditto Good. Now they need to raid the whitehouse (oval office).... While I'm FAR from being an admirer of Dubbie & his faithful family retainers, I'd suggest that The White House comes fairly far down this particular list, if it appears on it at all. This IS NOT about politics, or even competence. It's about crime, and how the political parties ACT in the face of CRIMINAL investigations & prosecutions. NOT some "Tit-For-Tat" political point scoring. That's what's being used to obscure the real issues in the first place. If you elect a person to SERVE you politically, then it's reasonable to expect that person to conduct himself & his finances openly and honestly to a high standard, and not to enjoy some special protection exempting him from investigations into his honesty, or the consequences of such investigations should they find he falls short of the standard expected. Beyond that, this has nothing to do with race, sex, age, political belief or sexual orientation. Mike. Taking the piss out of the FrenchAmericans since before it was fashionable.
