vortexring 0 #26 July 24, 2006 Hey Speedracer ya freakin' gunNUT! 'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'
kelel01 1 #27 July 24, 2006 Yeah, the only time I've been to the shooting range, we rented all the guns we shot but one (and we rented glocks, pistols and semi-automatics). And I was just talking about going back today, but it's expensive. I think we spent about $100 per person between gun rental and ammo purchase. I just want to shoot another glock .45. That was my favorite.

JohnRich 4 #29 July 25, 2006 QuoteI'm just not used to the act of pointing a gun at a target & holding it there without any wobble between shots. Yesterday I tried to practice by holding a heavy iron pot out at arms length, with a laser pointer balanced on it & tried to keep the red light on a fixed point as long as I could. That's very creative, and sounds like it might work. In target shooting, you generally want to get the shot off within the first 10 seconds or so. After that, wobble starts increasing as muscles get tired. If time permits, you can drop your arms, rest, and start over. I do this a bit in rifle shooting, if my eyes aren't cooperating at getting a clear sight picture. Just stop, take some deep breathes, and start again. If you try to shoot through the wobble, you're going to be inaccurate. Although a little wobble is perfectly normal. You might also get a dummy round, and have a buddy load your magazine with some live ammo, and the one dummy round inserted somewhere at random. Then shoot the magazine. At some point, the hammer will click on the empty round. If you're flinching when you pull the trigger, it will be very obvious on the dummy round, as the gun will jump, even though it didn't fire. AND its great for malfunction training. With that thought you can take a spent casing and create a stove-pipe and do drills with that.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." JohnRich 4 #31 July 25, 2006 QuoteQuoteNow you'll start viewing all gun news in the mass media as the crap it usually is. Your conversion to the side of truth and justice has just begun. Shooting a gun alters logical thinking and reasoning skills? That explains a lot It's just like being a skydiver makes you aware of how screwed-up the mass media is when they report skydiving accidents. Being knowledgeable about guns does the same thing for you when reading about guns in the news. Parachutes don't usually "fail to open", and guns don't usually "go off all by themselves". But according to the newspapers, that must be the root cause of the majority of skydiving and gun accidents.
SpeedRacer 1 #32 July 25, 2006 I can't believe there's like half-a-dozen people here who thought I was black! Maybe I should go to the Bonfire & reveal to everyone that I'm actually a closeted white man. or should it be "don't ask, don't tell"? kelel01 1 #33 July 25, 2006 Well, I never thought you were black. So you're at a 6:1, black:white ratio right now.
