Mossad: "Best Arab Troops We've Ever Faced" in Lebanon

Recommended Posts

Hizbollah is running a classic hit-and-run guerilla war against the Israelis, and are meeting with some success, according to this MSNBC story (via the Washington Pest).

Please see also The Washington Times.

For example, when faced with Israeli armor, the Hizbollah troops, instead of wetting their trousers and running like Arab troops have throughout history, waited in ambush, and engaged the tanks with laser-guided anti-tank weapons.

This is an interesting development, and reflects Iranian influence.

You see, unlike Arabs, the Persians know how to fight, and their advisers (of whom there are supposed to be hundreds in Southern Lebanon) are obviously providing leadership in battle that Arabs simply don't have.

The Arabs are pretty much militarily incompetent, and have been throughout history, but they can fight well if they're highly motivated (whipping up "jihad" and "Great Satan" admonishments usually doesn't cut it when said bad guys are trying very hard to kill your sorry, poorly-trained ass. Arab leaders have always relied on bullshit and sloganeering instead of serious tactics and training) and well-led in a manner that takes advantage of their culture and appeals to their sense of adventure. T.E. Lawrence excelled at this in WWI.

And where did the anti-tank weapons come from? Obviously supplied by Iran (which most likely bought them from China).

Iran has spent approximately US $10 billion on arming and advising the Hizbollah, and it's resulted in some surprises (and some losses) for the Israelis. Couple this with the terrain (which favors Hizbollah, along with a population that is mostly friendly and supportive) along with the natural advantages that defenders have over attackers, and you've got an unfavorable, Vietnam-style situation. Hizbollah is also concealing the numbers of their KIAs, whereas the Israelis aren't.

In the near future, look for Giap-style "hugging the belt" tactics on the part of Hizbollah. For the unschooled in such matters, this means engaging one's enemy so closely that they are unable to bring their overwhelming firepower (air, artillery, armor) to bear without endagering friendly troops.

The Iranian influence is unmistakable, however, and should serve as a warning to any country considering an attack on Iran. If they can get such effective results out of shitty Arab troops, imagine what they can do with their own.

This is a significant development (and an excellent propaganda coup for Hizbollah), because they are successfully resisting Israeli agression. For the moment.

Great Call Max! you show expertise far in advance of your pay grade.

The Gen. Giap plan book was being and is now being follwed by anti war protesters here in the US and no doubt have started working on the media in this conflict as well.

Hence the fact that according to the media, when Israel gets into a firefight only Israelis take casualties, and the only people killed or injured on the other side are always innocent women, children, and civilian men.

Israel, being an American Client-State, trains it's troops on the American Model. As such, they are as unbeatable as the American Military (albeit on a smaller scale) in conventional warfare.

Hezb'Allah are training on the Vietnamese model - as used by the mix of Viet-Minh & NVA. This has also been used to effect in Somalia & Iraq, and arguable dates back to the Allied landings at Normandy and the subsequent breakout where there was close co-operation between regular & resistance forces. Over time, it can stymie the American Model which (like the old Wehrmacht model) presumes a formal warfare between identifiable armies.

As such, Israel may occupy ground. HOLDING the ground will be an entirely different matter.

If Israel is engaged in "ethnic cleansing", they've got a looooooong way to go. It's a dishonest characterization, and Darius knows it. But at least his buddies in Al-Qaida are honest about where the real "ethnic cleansing" efforts are coming from:

""It is a jihad (holy war) for the sake of God and will last until (our) religion prevails ... from Spain to Iraq," al-Zawahri said. "We will attack everywhere."

Here outrager just posted this

Speaking on Israeli army radio, Mr Ramon - a close confidant of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert - said "everyone understands that a victory for Hezbollah is a victory for world terror".

He said that in order to prevent casualties among Israeli soldiers battling Hezbollah militants in southern Lebanon, villages should be flattened by the Israeli air force before ground troops moved in.

He added that Israel had given the civilians of southern Lebanon ample time to quit the area and therefore anyone still remaining there could be considered a Hezbollah supporter.

"All those now in south Lebanon are terrorists who are related in some way to Hezbollah," Mr Ramon said.

What do you think this means?

Do you really think the Israeli government is going to use the word exterminate? This is exactly what the statement above means. Specially taking ion to consideration that Civilians fleeing the area have been targeted.

So they tell you to leave then when you do they shoot you on your way out, and if you stay you must be a terrorist (even if you are 5 years old) and will be flattened.

Do you not see this?

My Compaq just crashed last week (stupid IBM hard drives).

So, if my Compaq goes kaput, does that make it a "Comput"?

Here being Yugoslavia, Mark? Just because it didn't work, that doesn't mean there wasn't a bloody good going attempt at it. There's still Jews alive in Poland, Germany, Etc... today.

Anyway:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/5219360.stm

Israel drops leaflets telling people to get out of their homes.

Israel targets convoys of refugees.

Anyone who hasn't risked being killed while abandoning their homes & lives is now a terrorist?:S

Pretty strange logic. About as strange as Israel saying the world supports them because no call for immediate ceasefire came out of Rome. By the same logic, "The World" supported the Serbs in Yugoslavia & Pol-Pot in Cambodia.

And yeah.. I'm sorry to say that the result of this WILL be ethnic cleansing by any definition. The only people alive there will be Serbs Israelis.

One thing I can say I am very proud of is that when 9-11 did happen. There was a thousands of Iranians who held a candle light Vigil for the victims, All you would see and hear were Muslims who said over and over that they do not support such actions.

At least the morals of the Muslim Majority are not compromised by there since of brotherehood.
