Terrorist attacks on Americans

Funny that, coming from someone who still believes Iraq had WMDs (and lots of other stuff long since disproved).

Nooo, lots of other stuff you don't believe because they are not reported by your favorite news orgs. You know, the ones that have the same anti-Bush agenda you have!

History is repeating itself in the way seen before WW2. And the most scary stuff is you, bill and the others refuse to open your eyes to what is happening. My opinion.

>Got this one from CNN bill?

Nope!

You seem to love the snippets bill......if they support your view.
Just like the one store owner you quoted, the media searches out those that support thier view.

Think I am wrong?
Cindy Shehan comes to mind, how about the 911 widows.

The major outlets find the extreem minorities and make heros out of them.

I would have no problem with that if they would balance those stories with the 99.9% of those in the same situation that disagree with the medias point.

Dam sad I think.........

>I have no idea where that statistic about power came from . . .

A guy named Younes Abbas Shamari. He's a carpenter in Baghdad who is trying to run his shop without power most of the day. But what would he know, eh?

Ok, some guy is good enough info when you agree?

Bill you are an engineer, do you think carpenters here are that knowledgeable about power generation and distribution?

>Cindy Shehan comes to mind . . .

Cindy Sheehan would have been just another protester if the right wing hadn't started treating her like a rabid, infectious dog. Had they simply felt sorry for her and ignored her, the news coverage would have gone away in a few days and moved on to the latest Britney Spears marriage. The right wing extremists - the ones calling her a media whore, a grief pimp - kept her in the limelight.

A grieving mother is news for a few days. A grieving mother being attacked by political operatives is news for months. Decide which option you want.

>I would have no problem with that if they would balance those stories

As one excellent piece put it, the media would love to get out there and do stories on all the "good stuff in Iraq." There is a ready market for such news; do some "Iraq is recovering" pieces, your ratings will go up and you'll make a ton of money.

But they go to a school and it's torched the next day. They go out in the street and they get kidnapped. They go to a police station and it's bombed. They go to a power station and the bridge to it has been bombed. Hard to find the good stuff in all that.

Wow, I had no idea anyone could look at these topics as backwards as you do!

Sheehan was shoved in everyones faces for weeks before people said enough. The greiving mother crap? Give me a break. She (more like her handlers) put her in a political spot light. She deserved what she got after that. (but I still think others bear more blame than her) Ann Coulter is right on the money about her too!

As for the Iraq good news. Well I would say the Taleban have you hook line and sinker.....

I certainly seem to face 180 degrees from the forever-war road.

And multiply your attitude by a few hundred thousand, and you have the reason she was in the news for so long. Righteous indignation got her the spotlight and kept it on her. (Heck, ask yourself why we're talking about her right now!)

>Ann Coulter is right on the money about her too!

Thank you for proving my point. Ann is one of the people who KEPT her in the spotlight, and continues to do so. (No nefarious purpose, she just knows how to make money off other people's grief and anger.)

That's Afghanistan. Afghanistan and Iraq are really not the same, despite some desperate attempts to link the two.

The attempts aren't so despirate. They are there in Iraq, but they came to Iraq after us.

The Terrorist camps that where there when we arrived happened to be other Radical Islamic Jihadists.

Now Iraq has Al Qeada (some keep confusing them with the Taliban, but they had an uneasy alliance), Hezbala, Irainian, Turkish, Pakistani, Jordanian, Egyption (yep) and Saudi terrorists.

Shit what was my point?
An Instructors first concern is student safety.
So, start being safe, first!!!

Sorry it took me so long to jump back into this convo getntlemen I was pre-occuppied last night. Bill, a few observations about the statistics you mentioned that I've noticed during my visits to Iraq. You are right about there being some places that are having power issues, but well over 90% of the country has power most of the day. The places that are having power issues are having them as a result of insurgent attacks, not US involvement. Insurgents are attacking power stations that the US is trying to guard and rebuild. The same thing goes with the oil production as well. The city of Kirkuk in northern Iraq sits on over 7% of the entire worlds oil supply, when people say oil runs through the streets they aren't joking, I'd step out of a vehicle and into an ankle deep puddle of oil up there. But at least once a week insurgents would bomb an oil line and set the production back. Production was down over 50% as a direct result of insurgents. So it's not the fault of the US that there are so many problems, insurgents are attacking these sights in an attempt to make us look bad, and people blaming the US for these issues are falling for the psyops campaign led by the insurgents.

History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid.

If you think the Taleban has anything to do with any news coming out of Iraq of any sort, well then I have no other choice but to start doubting all your statements on that subject....

God, I really hate when people do this (sorry to pick on you so much today rushmc, but you are the latest).

If indeed he missed the point, wouldn't it be much more conducive to the debate to explain what the point was instead of merely telling him he missed it? I mean, after all, he doesn't know what he missed.
Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
