JoeyRamone 0 #1 August 10, 2006 GOOD FOR HIM. He went in for the wrong reasons but oh well. He needs to get help for himself first not to save a marriage. Robin Williams checked himself into rehab in a desperate bid to win a three-year battle with booze that's threatening to destroy his marriage, The ENQUIRER has learned exclusively. The Oscar-winning actor's drinking was so out of control that he suffered repeated blackouts, sources say, and after he was photographed hugging a waitress in a bar on May 22, his wife Marsha slapped him with an ultimatum: Get help or I'm leaving. To save himself and his 17-year marriage, Williams entered a 30-day program at the Hazelden Springbrook alcohol rehab facility in Newberg, Ore., on July 11. "My drink of choice was vodka," he told a pal. "I would buy two pints at a time, one for each jacket pocket. But I had to be careful. I didn't want to be seen buying liquor every day." Williams told a souce that he hatched a plan to buy booze only at liquor stores owned by Asians, figuring he wouldn't be recognized. He was wrong. The first time he went into an Asian-owned liquor store, the proprietor said: "Robin Williams, how are you? You buy liquor?"
akarunway 1 #2 August 10, 2006 Yeah. Him and Mel should be havin a good time. To bad thet aren't in together. I'm sure a rehab movie will be out soon.I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all. tbrown 26 #3 August 10, 2006 Ole Robin was rehabbed for cocaine a couple ages ago, sorry to see he's got another problem. Clapton and Keith "Captain Coconut" Richards are two ex junkies who hit the bottle hard after kicking the junk. Keith's still at it, but of course he's actually a 5000 year old mummy anyway. All the best to Robin, if he checked himself in maybe he wants to quit. That's the hardest part, is wanting to. Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity ! Zing 2 #4 August 10, 2006 Anybody remember the Mork (Robin Williams) and Mindy Show, when Jonathon Winters appeared as Mork's offspring? It became a glimpse into the dark side of genius for Williams and led to a complete break from reality for Winters. The two are arguably in the very top echelon of comic genius. I've seen both, live and in person, and left both shows in pain from laughing so hard. Winters has had a life-long struggle with, for lack of a better term, mental health that periodically took him off performing ... one of the reasons he isn't as well known as many of his peers. Both men have done interviews where they discussed their work together on the sitcom. Winters once said, "I'm not very funny when I'm sane." Williams expressed concerns that watching Winter's lose touch with reality was like looking into his own future. According to the show's production staff, it was a tragic breakdown for both comics, but the interplay and adlib between the two was so hilarious that no one saw the fall coming until it was too late. Pity the poor cop that has the misfortune of pulling over a drunken, verbally abusive Robin Williams. I hope Williams' "recovery" goes well.Zing Lurks

Pity the poor cop that pulls him over if he's on a roll. It'd make a damn good episode of "COPS"I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all. Both are comic geniuses. Robin has mentioned many times in interviews that his 'hero' was Winters. Depression, seems to be a pre-requisite for being a great comedian. Not all comedians are 'happy'. Robin Williams once said that most comedians are frustrated singers. Chuck
