I don’t support the loss of inocent lives under any circumstance.

Hi Darius.

I'll hold you to this. I hope I'll see you venting your anger at the loss of life after suicide attacks.

Next time Sunnis kill Shias or Palestinians kill Israelis or what have you - I expect you to condemn it and make strong posts about it here in SC. Same type as you've made about the Israelis.

If you do not, there's a discrepancy between your stated position and what your actions. Which is OK - you have your cultural heritage and it'll bias you some. Just important to recognize it bro.

One of the groups that followed Hizballah—even exceeding it in both execution and number of incidents—was the LTTE, the Tamil separatist group in Sri-Lanka.

The LTTE is unequivocally the most effective and brutal terrorist organization ever to utilize suicide terrorism. Between July 1987 and February 2000 it has carried out 168 suicide terror attacks in Sri-Lanka and India leaving thousands of innocent bystanders dead or wounded.[2] Its suicide unit, “The Black Panthers” is comprised of both men and women. One characteristic unique to the LTTE is the fact that every member of the group carries a cyanide capsule around his/her neck, which he or she may consume upon capture in order not to disclose the group’s secrets. The members of the “Black Panthers” unit have demonstrated their continuous readiness to die when they were surrounded by security forces. In many instances they blew themup or bit cyanide capsules rather than risk captivity and subsequent interrogation which could force them to betray their comrades.

The LTTE has directed its attacks primarily against the highest Sri Lankan and Indian political and military personnel. It is the only organization that succeeded in assassinating two heads of states. Former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated in May 1991 by a female suicide-bomber while campaigning for re-election. Sri-Lanka president Prendesa was assassinated in 1993 by a male suicide-bomber who had infiltrated the president’s inner circle, and even lived at the president’s premises for about one year before executing his mission.

Suicide Attack Statistics by Organization

Note: The basic definition of suicide terrorism varies among scholars and among official agencies, resulting in widely varying statistics. All agree that “modern” suicide terrorism reflects the phenomenon of terrorism in its most extreme form.

From another scource:

Suicide terrorism -- it's not just for Islamic extremists
My colleague Robert Pape, author of the soon-to-be-released Dying to Win from Random House, has an informative op-ed today in the New York Times about the strategic logic of suicide terrorism. The key fact is Pape's finding that suicide terrorism has more to do with foreign occupation than Islamic fundamentalism:

Over the past two years, I have compiled a database of every suicide bombing and attack around the globe from 1980 through 2003 - 315 in all. This includes every episode in which at least one terrorist killed himself or herself while trying to kill others, but excludes attacks authorized by a national government (like those by North Korean agents against South Korea). The data show that there is far less of a connection between suicide terrorism and religious fundamentalism than most people think.

The leading instigator of suicide attacks is the Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka, a Marxist-Leninist group whose members are from Hindu families but who are adamantly opposed to religion. This group committed 76 of the 315 incidents, more than Hamas (54) or Islamic Jihad (27). Even among Muslims, secular groups like the Kurdistan Workers' Party, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the Al Aksa Martyr Brigades account for more than a third of suicide attacks.

yeah, but we don't have that affinity we have with Sri Lankans as we do with the jews in Israel, so really, who gives a fuck.....

(or one could read: there aren't that many powerful Sri Lankans in Canadian and US government)

Yea, why is that?:P

Hey Dolph I just saw this post sorry for the late replay. JR asked me the same questions once.

There is enough people on here and all threw the western world who speak up and make strong posts when there is Suicide bomb attack on Israel. Or a terrorist attack of any kind so we really don’t need another person to say the same thing over and over again that gets boring and redundant.

What you don’t see is the same outrage when Israel or any of the western country kills thousands of people. I feel I have to speak up because no one else will.

So don’t expect anything.

and why the hell should you be an appologist for what Hamas or anyone else does? I mean do we demand that all Catholics condemn the IRA every time they shoot someone or plant a bomb? Or do we expect Windcatcher to applogise and condemn every attack on a abortion clinic everytime there was one? No, of course not but when it comes to Muslims its a different ball game.
