What I'm asking, is what would a world look like without war, what would we live like without war. How would nations interact. The reason it doesn't exist, is cause people don't think it can, so its not a possibility, so few work, think, act, and demand leadership in that direction. Your god damn people who will get out of a plane, what does out of the box look like on this one, don't be an in the box looser, theres already too many of these, they called woofoo's, cmon

you're looking for a reality where people no longer have material wants - either because they all became Jesus, or because their needs are being well met.

Hard to see this in a world that shows more signs of declining material goods.

Working fusion power (and available to all) would seem to be a prerequisite to a change.

The only war I'd ever fight in would be a war to end war. People thought ww1 and ww2 were suppose to do this. What do you think it'd look like, life afterward. If you can't see it, don't post, you're still in the box

Once that person starts eating the vegetables that I need to sustain
>me through the winter, there has to be an accounting.

>Whether through voluntary or forced labor of the idle, or elimination
>of the problem.

Right. And our level of maturity as a people determines whether that solution is "grow more vegetables" or "kill him" (or something in between.)

So, you're willing to work twice as hard so that the man sitting on your fence waiting for a handout doesn't go hungry?

Not me.

If there were no war everyone would be making love, and overpopulating the already crowded earth.

That is one of the most idiotic things I have ever read here in SC (not a P.A. just stating the obvious). Besides, does it not say in the bible to go forth and be fruitful? And you dare to call yourself a christian.
From Genesis
6 Whoever sheds man' blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.
7 And you, be you fruitful, and multiply; bring forth abundantly in the earth, and multiply therein.

What about the guys that work double the hours you do and get paid 20USD a month?
Do you want to have an ideagasm?

I don't know about GB, but in the US we have something called the minimum wage.

And, no, I am not responsible for the person who spent his formative years picking his nose, any more than someone else is responsible for the results of my foolishness.

Button? What button? Clarify please. Oh, may I add that I read extremely well. Yet, what I do not understand is how you can say that you are a christian yet, most of what you post indicates quite the opposite. If there is a god, pseudo-christianity will most likely earn you a first class ticket straight to hell. Your crimes are that you rail for war and death, you wish to kick the sick (in the past you made some ignorant comments about people with AIDS)and you dispise the poor. Not very christ like are you? A true christian would promote peace, tend to the sick and help the poor to better themselves. Kindly drop the mask, please.

This calls for an excellent quote from Air America.

"I never said I was a 'good' Buddhist." :D

God is supposed to forgive our sins and help us through these trying times. I certainly hope he helps me shoot straighter than my enemy. ;):P

I just chose not to allow my faith in Christ to be used as a doormat by those who choose not to believe, yet think that they can play the compassion card to their advantage.

Isn't it amazing that a man can stand on an entrance ramp with some pitiful sign for 10 hours a day, but if you offered him a job, he'd tell you to go to hell.
I honestly have no need for such people.

You miss the point completely with such a narrow world view. Most of the world is not like the US and Europe where anyone can succeed.

I'm talking about places like Thailand, Indonesia, central Africa. You don't think you owe anything to the lady who sewed up your brand new Nikes for 10 cents an hour?

If anyone owes them a hand up, it is the people directly responsible for their well being, that is their governments and employers. Gee, now I'm sounding like a socialist.

If I thought for one minute that paying an extra dollar for an item would actually get into the hands of the workers, I'd say, no problem, but it doesn't.

Just like the great U.N. oil for food program.

The largest part of the world governments do not have a checks and balances system, and leaders often become corrupt, or rather, reveal their corruptness.

I guess there are different flavors of Christians.

Some are turn the other cheek Christians, others are, if you do not work, you shall not eat Christians.

I choose the latter. It tends to make better, more responsible people, which leads to a functional society.

As for the poor, at least in this country, they are largely self made.
Only the young, the very old, the seriously mentally ill, and those with serious handicaps[ I'm not talking about skydivers who misjudged their swoop by three ft.] deserve the welfare of the public.

And yes, the contraction of AIDS, for the large part is due to a foolish act.

BULLSHIT!!!! Things DO happen that is far beyond the control of many that brought them down to the level of losing everything. Take off your freaking blinders!!!

Best hope that you never find yourself in a position where you need help ie; car accident, work accident, skydive accident, serious illness. After the insurance runs out, your on your own. Not even Medicare is going to do much for you.

You're just pathetic. Take off your mask and just admit that you have a serious case of hating people for whatever pathetic reason you have.

Not all wars are done ut of ignorance or fear. In fact, a good deal of wars have been started due to personal disagreements between rulers, power grabs, economic or strategic reasons, expansion of power base and what have you. Cleary, there can be rational reasons to go to war. They may not be moral reasons - but rational, well thought out ones nonetheless.

And you may go to war because someone tried to kill your dad. Or because you really can't stand that *idiotic* Swedish king and he just have *got* to be taught a lesson.

We're humans - flock animals. We protect our group and care less about other groups. Been that way for ages.

Those are all just variations of fear. Fear that you won't have access to enough resources, fear that they'll attack first, fear that some need won't be met, fear of looking bad (or not looking good), fear of giving up a way of life, etc.. I can't think of any destructive or otherwise dysfunctional behavior that isn't bottom line driven by fear of unmet needs.

Anger is in there too, as an outward manifestation of fear about some need that wasn't, isn't, or won't be met. It is perfectly rational (not in a makes sense sort of way, but in an understanding motives way), even though it doesn't solve the problem in the long term. It usually just plants the seeds for the next round of war.

Anger resolves problems like a high speed fan resolves a pile of loose paper.

Are you calling us "God damn . . . woofoo's?" Thems fighting words. DOH!

But seriously, I think I see what you're saying now. And I think it is the nature of the beast, remnants of when being greedy was necessary for survival. That nature will need to change - to evolve. Civilization has not yet evolved to the point of letting go, or for the social Darwinists, we've not had enough people living easy long enough for the survive-by-being-greedy genes to lose their grip on our psyche.

Most of the world still wants as much of the fixed pie as they can get, without consideration for what anybody else might or might not be getting. We justify it by citing things like work ethic, survival of the fittest (isn't that telling of our psyche - I can get more than I need, so I'll take more than I need), racial superiority, and so forth. So many people WANT way more, incredibly much more, than we NEED.

Give it time. I mean civilization as we know it has been around for about 10K years, and on that timescale we are just barely past the point of feeling we have the right to own and enslave fellow humans. (And some still think it is OK). Humans will mature as a group, and then the outliers (like Hitler, that guy in the Congo that liked to eat people, and rap music producers) will have a much harder time convincing large groups of people that killing over insults, the price of oil, lines drawn on a map, etc is just plain ineffective behavior.

Might take a while though. Evidence suggests that humans are very slowly evolving animals; not to mention that we have been slowly eliminating many of the threats that typically would pressure a species to adapt. Hmmmm, we just might be fucked after all.

Humanity - it's a crapshoot.

If need be. I'd much rather help him plant a garden though. I suspect you would be, too. Isn't that easier than killing him?

Those would be the ones that follow the teachings of Christ.

Those would be the sort of Christians who do not follow the teachings of Christ.
