This forum is so entertaining. What is most entertaining is the way that so many of you follow the big 2's lines of propaganda in step toe cadence with out any apparent real analytical thought. Here is this soundbite, or here is this paragraph of text, that totally defines the world we live in and why the other party is full of scumbags.

The reality of it is both of the established major political parties are full of self centered egotistical scumbags. Does everyone really believe that any of them really give a sh#t about any of use as individuals. Well they don't, what they do care about is POWER. And with power comes money, big money, and control, lots of control, over US.

I always vote, it is my responsibility to vote, to try and give my children a better country and world than I got to live in. I my heart I know that they probably wont get that but I have to hope. I have not voted for a Democrat or Republican since 1976, but I always voted. Who have I voted for, the libertarian candidate of course, except when those wierdos tried to shanghai our party, then I voted for the real libertarian as a write in.

Actually all I am asking is that you take a step back and think about what our country is turning into and who it was that got us here. Both the Dems and the Repubs got us here, usually working together except when the cameras are rolling. Think about it.

I think most politicians want to do good. They have different ideas of what good is, and are all too often tempted to pursue their vision of good by bad methods. I think a libertarian politician would be subject to the same temptations.

Call me jaded, but I really do not think the majority of them do care about us. To your second point, absolutely, once any party is able to gain control for a period of time then they too will forget about us and only be concerned over keeping their power.

I agree with you. Politicians will do what it takes to get elected. It's all about power. But what alternatives do we have? Corrupt politicians or corrupt dictators?

My point is try something different than what everyone always goes with. I mean at least until it is corrupted also. If you are not happy with a Chevy you can get a Ford, or Chrysler, or Toyota, or Mercedes...

The USA needs another political party alternative for the electorate and Canada needs to lose one. Preferably the Liberal Party.

I look at your hometown, Rockford, as an experiment in independence - an alternate route in response to years of frustration with the arrogance and inefficiency of entrenched politicial parties.

Your Mayor, Larry Morrissey, shocked & rocked the entire state's political hierarchy when he won as in an independent - in a landslide no less.

I'm prejudeiced, Larry was a good friend of mine in law school and he is one of the best and most talented people I have met in my long life. So regardless of how the independent experiment turns out, I will know there was one politician who had his heart in the bettement of his community above all else.

But it gets tough & messy, especially for third parties / independents. The political machines covet their power and love to crush opposition to their dominance .

If a guy like Larry can manage to turn a few things around in Rockford by talking past the entrenched intersts & directly to the electorate (instead of catering and caving into special interest demands) then perhaps it can be done on a grander scale.

The partisan powers that be are always ready to ambush the principled politician, but perhaps the time is ripe for people of principle to step forward and out of the corrupting shadow of party loyalty and speak truth to the real (Constitutional) power in this country - the electorate.

Politics is an "art" of running government. With that, must come compromise. Compromise usually meets in the middle. The crap we see highlighted in the news is an exception amidst a huge array of stuff going on.

I'm painting with a broad brush, of course. I don't agree with everything that's going on, but I do not think it's all bad, and I don't think anyone has it better than us (in the US that is).
