fucked up referendum questions

As Iraq shows us, a determined freedom fighter armed with IEDs, RPGs and small arms can indeed render the most powerful military invader on Earth quite impotent.

We really need to be allowed to own more explosives and RPGs to be effective in fighting a rogue government.

Why, yes...yes we do... since the liberal bedwetters refuse to allow the militia to own the same weapons that the military has.

Yep

any weapon we want except NBC's and the like.

when was the last time someone in the US robbed a liquor store with a crew served weapon?

Does anyone think some gangbanger is gonna plop down 20k for a large caliber belt fed weapon?

How will the gangmember carry that in the waistband of his droopy pants?

not to mention holding it sideways so it's more "Natro":D

Wow. Methinks someone has been reading the Declaration of Independence. When did you come around?

John Rich converted me about 4 years ago. I have a very consistent record on this since then:P

Well, a GOP controlled House, Senate and Whitehouse didn't allow it either. So that makes Bush, Cheney, Ashcroft, Delay, Lott and others "liberal bedwetters".:S

Ah, another strawman by the good Professor...

Why didn't the Dhims try an impeachment bill, or a tax rate increase, then?

Why would you want to own a .05 cal weapon?.....I can see no reason for wanting to own any type of fire arm for personal use let alone large calibre weapons.

Why skydive? People can see no use jumping out of a plane. Own one because you want one, if you don't want one, don't own one. They can be quite fun. And as for those that say how dangerous they are, more people are killed with baseball bats than .50 cal weapons.

Doesn't anyone think that the referendum question was totally biased and constructed with verbage to illicit only an affirmative response?

Politicians are so damned disgusting and dishonest.>:(

You can construct your own referendum question and jump through the hoops needed to get it on the ballot next time.

>MHO that is the most disgusting and dishonest way to pose a
>question to the voters in a LONG time.

Yep, we get these here all the time. "Should the state of California spend $20 billion on new figurines for the capital - without raising your taxes?" Fortunately, the entire ballot measure is described in the voter's information guide, along with a pretty good analysis of service on the bond.

>How the fuck can they get aways with stating things this way
>without ANY proof that the AWB stopeed any criminals at all?

?? Just like you could put a "easier CCW approval" measure on the ballot without any proof that CCW permits reduce crime.

A nice feature of California's ballot-initiative system is that they allocate four areas in the voter information guide for pro and con arguments. They get one page for pro, one page for con, and a smaller area for rebuttals of both. They're often not that helpful, with both sides writing bloviated stuff like:

This measure will INCREASE your taxes and will allow the GOVERMENT to EAT YOUR CHILDREN without PAYING you for THEM! DON'T LET SPECIAL INTERESTS EAT YOUR CHILDREN!

But at least both sides get represented.

>I will GLADLY leave this state if such a law passes.

OK Alec!

And thankfully there is the 5th section - the legislative analysis. I rarely need to turn to the 2 pages of lies (this 40B of spending won't raise your taxes).

Don't get your panties in a wad. The NRA will never let it happen;)>Ban on .50 Cal. Defeated in California

The Fifty-Caliber Shooters Ass'n
worked with NRA on this one!

AB 2222, a measure that would have mandated new restrictions on target rifles chambered for .50 BMG cartridges, was defeated by a vote by the Assembly Public Safety Committee on Tuesday, April 23. This bill sought to register .50 caliber BMG rifles and place them under an arbitrary permit system.

A special thanks goes to all California NRA members who worked tirelessly to defeat this measure!

Wad them back up. I can't buy a .50 in CA. Those who owned them prior are grandfathered, but that's about it. Still can't buy or sell to another person. AB50, passed in 2004.

Im sorry but this really does confound me.

Why would you want to own a .05 cal weapon?

I understand certain issues such as collections of weapons for their historic value, your constitutional right to bare arms and the need to kill Elephants quickly and cleanly.

View .50 Cal owners the way you would view serious archers. Both spend considerable (2-8k for a 50) money on a device that is used to accurately hit a very small target very far away. And in both, you don't want to be in between the shooter and the target.

And neither has any practical purpose for violence. 50 cal bans are passing not because there is a real threat, but because gun controllers have retreated to picking on the obviously evil looking guns. Their hopes of total bans got shattered by the 2000 election, and now gun control is a dirty word for the Democratic Party, like abortion often has been for the GOP. On the platform, but a good way to lose votes.

I just dont understand the mentality of someone wanting to own one just because he can.

that's called freedom. Getting fuzzy these days.

My bad. I see it was shotdown in 2003 and back in 2004. Time to move to Az. or Nev.

Yesterday as I voted there was a referendum that read as follows:

In the interest of the safety of our children and our neighborhoods would you be willing to have an assault weapons ban on all military style weapons and rifles that are .50cal?

Quote

IMHO that is the most disgusting and dishonest way to pose a question to the voters in a LONG time.

How the fuck can they get aways with stating things this way without ANY proof that the AWB stopeed any criminals at all?

Didn't you proudly vote for your party of choice in this election? Be careful what you wish for.

Repeat after me, Democratic Socialist Party.

If youre implying I am a democrat, socialist, or otherwise you are most definately wrong.

If you are implying that the Dem Socialists are the way to retain or constitutional rights you are wrong as well.[:/]
