It's just ill-advised to do anything other than STFU and mind your manners in anything to do with commercial aviation. You cause a scene/attract attention to yourself at your own damn risk. Just SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP.

Being ANY religion/gender/sexual preference/any other supposed persecuted minority DOES NOT excuse asshattery.

I repeat

Just SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP.

What did they do while on the plane? They prayed in the terminal.

So, are you suggesting that rights guaranteed by the First Amendment (RTFC) should be suspended inside an airport terminal?

Can Joe Sixpack exercise his 2nd Amendment rights and carry a loaded shotgun in a terminal? No.

Can he talk about a bomb out loud (1st Amd) in a terminal? No.

Being a loudmouth prick (the Imams) can get you in trouble in a terminal. Don't cause a fucking scene in airports. It WILL cause a crimp in your travel plans.

'Tis a slippery slope you're on there.

To avoid being a statistic, I'm willing to put up with some irritants. This is not to sacrifice liberty for safety, it's just common sense... I'm more than willing to submit to legal authority to ensure the last thing I hear (before explosive decompression) is not "Allahu Akbar!!!"

I don't live in such fear. I'm not willing to readily abandon such liberties to provide some illusory safety. That is exactly what you are suggesting.

I was coming home from hunting elk today and I looked into the car next to us and I saw a man with a beaver on his face and a diaper on his head. Sitting next to him was a thing with a sack over their body with only eye holes in their hood. I said buddy hand me your 357, I'll blow these fuckers away. He said there's too many witnesses. ok lets go drink beer.

1) the six had purchased one way tickets with cash,
2)had boarded without luggage,
3)sought to change seat assignments from tourist class to first class after boarding.
4)I would regard that as highly suspicious behavior, with or without the prayers.
5) If you're going to act like a bunnch of weirdos, you're going to get kicked off the plane.

1) So what? Hardly a crime and if the airline is so worried about cash payments then why accept them?

2) Only three didn't have luggage. I often fly internal flights without luggage, so what?

3) I ALWAYS change my seat assignmet as I like to sit at the back next to the isle. So what? If its true that they tried to get upgraded to first class seats thats hardly unusual either.

4) If you regard the above as suspicious behavior then you must live a very anxious existance.

5) As I reguarly 'act as a weirdo' by demonstrating the above behaviour I'm suprised that I haven't yet been thrown off a plane. But just a word to the wise, if you think that behaviour make one a weirdo what ever you do don't ever come to London and rde on a Tube train. You'd need counciling for the rest of your life:P

6) Oh and as for suspicious, not only do I have an Arab name and am on the coffe coloured side but as I'm six foot four I always ask to sit by the emergency exit on long haul flights and carry on a parachute. Good job I make sure I order the KOSHER meal so no fuck wit redneck gets all jumpy.:S

>Wow, that is an incredibly incomplete summary!

Had the passenger not complained, the incident would not have occurred.

More fill in the blanks?

Just because a passenger was the first to address the six imam's behavior, doesn't mean the situation wouldn't have occurred without that initial prompt.

It sounds like they were kicked off the plane because someone was uncomfortable about being around a group of Muslims on an airplane.

That... or after collecting information on their behavior before and after boarding, local law enforcement and the FBI were contacted... who concluded the six men should be questioned.

Wow! I agree with you!! It's not sacrificing liberty for safety. It's sacrificing liberty for the appearance of safety.

it's just common sense

Yeah, well, the problem with common sense is it ain't all that common ...apparently. :P

I don't think so. In this day and age Muslims acting really high profile on an airplane is nearly the equivalent of yelling "Fire!!!!" in a crowded building. Those boneheads undoubtedly knew it and pushed the limits. I am no more or less sensitive to their religious rights than they were to the feelings of the Americans around them who were affected by the 9/11 attacks.

I don't feel sorry for them at all. Nor would I feel sorry for any Americans who wave American flags and loudly profess their love for President Bush's policies while travelling in a Middle Eastern country.

I have no doubt they were *knowingly* pushing their luck. If I went into a predominately black nightclub wearing a KKK robe and loudly cheering my affection for the "good old days of slavery" or something like that, I would be well within my rights of free speech, but I would also be inciting a riot.

I am agreeing with you!! They got what they were asking for. Specially when one looks at everything they did.

Hell, they did not even follow the praying routeen normally.

So, they need to live with it and quit acting like they were victums. But, that is what one does in the US today to spin the story and get the PC crowd wound up....

The spin in here on the facts is unreal. It's like the kid's game where you stand in a circle and whisper in each other's ear down the line to see how garbled the original message gets.
Hello?? None of us were there, and there was no videotape. There are several CONFLICTING versions of what happened, both in the terminal and on the plane. Most of you are only cherry-picking whatever as-yet unsubstantiated claims you think supports your pre-conceived presumptions. It's getting silly.

The seat belt extension who is of an obvious slender build by looking at the hands and face/neck would ididcate they have something strapped to their midsection.

Can we stop acting like we don't know what that was about?[:/]

A 6' 230lb guy has an "obvious slender build?" Caused that's what the physical description of one of the imams per the police report. Read it; it may shed some light on the situation.

Misconception - they didn't ask for upgrades, from what I've read - they simply boarded the plane and tried to sit in seats not assigned to them.
