I guess YOU would go all macho and pull out a gun.. and start shooting back... WHOA. I am so impressed.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not even close, YOU are the only one talking about how badass you are.

I have stated what I would do.. that is to put distance using my car or truck in my case to put distance between me and the men with guns who are NOT identified as being police..

Even though I do carry ... AND I do have a CCP.... I would STILL try to put distance between them and me....THat my dear is not being BADDASS. THAT is being prudent in that situation.

Now by all means PLEASE enlighten us all to what YOU would do....

No doubt - a 31 million grain projectile (4k lb car) beats 230 grains every time!! :P I know that *IF* I was in that situation, I'd do my damndest to make that unknown person (the operative term here, I believe) a flat spot in the road!

sure I'm "kind of" joking... but even the day before... come on...

Do they not have bachelor/bachelorette parties over there? Where the groom/bride's best friends take them out the night before the wedding for one last carouse?

yep but :
-we usually avoid the day before the wedding, cause we like our friends to look nice for their weddings (and not like dirty-unshaved-covered-in-puke-or-hooker-perfume)
-where I'm from we also don't really have "strip-club-tradition" in general life, but we can still have lots of fun without going to a strip club

But 800-900 FPS muzzle velocity beats 88 FPS. B|

I would try to use the car how it was designed...And thats to drive away; it also can be used as cover. By trying to run over the cops (even if you didn't know they were cops) you would most likely end up with some bullet holes in you, just like this guy did.

30,720,000 x 88 = 2,703,360,000

230 x 900 = 207,000

I think the vehicle still wins!! :P

If they can shoot through it and get you driving toward them, they can shoot through and get you driving away.... and be damned if I'd stop!

Force Protection 101:

"The driver does not need to draw a weapon, it is already under his control."

A car wins in a gunfight. UNLESS the shooters are not in the path of the car!

Anyone doubting this information can do an experiment.

Take an old car that is a junk preferably,

Hook it up to a pulley system and pull it straight down a taxiway or pavement.

Shoot at the car with a handgun all you like as it accelerates towards the shooters position.

See if the car gives a shit as it runs you over, after striking you, and throwing your body many yards.:o

Most people here that posted to this thread are Monday Night Quarterbacking. You cannot say what they did was wrong or what the driver was right or wrong.

Sure I can. The driver should not have run into police cars and the police should not have shot and killed an unarmed man. Quarterbacks should also not throw interceptions. The fact that I'm not a quarterback, a cop, or someone being shot at by a cop doesn't make me incapable of understanding the shoulds and shouldn'ts of a particular situation. Unfortunately I don't have enough information on this specific incident to say exactly who was in the wrong. If nothing else though, the shots that went astray were "wrong", and it was fortunate that nobody was hit by them.

A lot of us Americans here do the bachelor/bachelorette party the day before the wedding for the last hurrah! Some people might do it a week or a month before but most do it the night before. The strip club tradition is common. Not all Americans do the strip club tradition. Some do other things like go to bars or have a joint bachelor/bachelorette party, etc.

Okay aside from you and Amazon and the other trained killers, assinators or murderers on this forum, the rest of us can't say or shouldn't say what we would do if we were in that particular situation.

Wise ass! What do you know? You're comfortable sitting behind your computer while others are protecting and serving their country!

I was just busting your balls. NY'ers tend to go a little overboard when it comes to busting balls. That's what we do best!

Yeah, unfortunately there are too many of you ball busters out there in NY that always get into a scuffle and we have to help you when you're getting your ass kicked. I don't know why people just don't things fly over their head and go on with their life. This is NY. Someone will always have something bad to say to you that's demeaning or insulting. To me, it's just words.....

I've seen video of cops jumping in front of fleeing cars to stop them then using deadly force when the cars didn't stop or moved slightly from stationary, or gunned the engine out of gear. Basically the police tried to create a pretext for shooting a suspect.

Or maybe the police got caught up in trying to "serve and protect"? Ever been driving and had to stop short? Did you throw your arm up to protect the passenger from the dash (Maybe to cop a feel on a hottie :P)? That is an automatic reaction, your arm would not really do anything in a crash, but you do it anyway.

The cops might step in front of a car since that is where the best shot (not safest for them) can be taken. The target is moving at you so you don't have to lead and it is getting bigger so you don't have to rush the shot. Also, the chance of a miss flying through the car and hitting someone is less.

Point is that people often make automatic moves to do what they think is right. You amy think they stepped in front so they can claim they were in danger (possible, but stupid to do). While I would think they just got caught up and tried to stop the suspect.

There is something deeply troubling about an officer placing himself in front of a vehicle and then killing the driver for presenting a risk to the officer. I've seen this happen where the driver was edging forward slowly and the officer was intentionally hovering on the corner of the vehicle where he moved to place himself. In many countries that would be called cold blooded murder. Should you get away with calling a car a deadly weapon then CHOOSE to place yourself in front of it and shoot the unarmed driver as a consequence?

These policies sound good when presented in black and white but reality is not, it is so subject to abuse and the training & implementation is inadequate and troubling.
