>Ya, as you imply I must be stupid.

I don't think you're stupid. I don't understand how to cheat at blackjack (although I know it's doable) - does that make me stupid?

Of course I'd _look_ stupid if I wrote a lot of articles saying it was impossible to cheat at blackjack.

There are a lot of people out there who don't understand the physical basis of climate change. You've posted articles by several of them. Often it's not even worth answering them; it would be like arguing about safe driving with Ted Kennedy. (Not because he's stupid either, but because he's proven that he doesn't really understand that particular topic.*)

However, if you (that's Marc, not some guy who posted something you think is "interesting") want to put ideas out there based on science, I will be happy to discuss the science involved.

(* note - for all I know Ted Kennedy is now the world's safest driver. But you get my point.)

Now wait a minute. I thought you just posted agreeing that most scientists agree........ I don't every want science by concensus but stating that "most scientists" agree is doing just that.

Yes, I posted that. Scientists don't work by consensus. They agree that global warming is a reality because that is what the evidence suggests.

Quote

As for the evidence. The evidence is starting to come out that GWing is not a man made happening (assuming it is happening at all as that is now being questioned by some scientists, but I digress) I want evidence, not flawed and tweaked computer models matched up with misleading graphs that ignore other factors.

Please show us this evidence (not editorials "interpreting" the evidence).

Quote

1st GWing has yet to be proven that it is even happening as some researchers are now quetioning the data gathering itself. The the measurement system is flawed then the data is junk.

Wow. You seem to have access to information that most credible scientists are unaware of. In your expert opinion, how is the data flawed?

Quote

2nd If GWing is happening there is even less credible eveidence that man is causing it. One propent of GWing I heard on the radio Sunday was asked about sea levels if his dire perdictions came true. What level would the sea really reach. He said 35' higher than today (worse case senario). He said that level was once reached 1000 years ago proving it could get that high.

Well, if that happened over a 1000 years ago, did man cause it then??

We know that increased CO2 in the atmosphere contributes to global warming. We know that man does many things that increase the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. It logically follows that man is contributing to global warming.

I agree with your reasoning in general execpt for one point. Global Warming (as in man made GW) is not science. To sue to stop or slow something that, as of right now, has no solid sceintific proof, puts this purely into a political arena, not law.

I am on your side with Global Warming now.. I intend to burn all the fucking diesel fuel I can in my lifetime in my big ass 4x4 diesel truck... Cause I live in a place that will benefit from Global warmiing. Most Red states on the other hand.. will not fare well and will not be able to do squat about it because there is no solution found in their Jewish Book of Fables that deals with Global Warming. By all means enjoy your desert.. I will enjoy basking in the sun here in Seattle when the San Francisco weather is our norm up here.

I'm waiting for Global Warming to kick here in Southern Alberta. It started snowing here in mid October and it pretty much hasn't stopped since. Sure we've had the occasional warm day, but other than that it's pretty much snowed here once a week since October (on average) and right now we're dealing with -10 degree temps with snowy, icy roads and poor visibility. It's fine and dandy for someone to be located in Southern California to send their Chicken Little warnings that the world is coming to an end thanks to humans and the CO2. But for those of us who actually live up north, we don't see much of this waming weather trend the Chicken Littles speak of. But what would we know? It's only natural that someone from Southern Cal would know more about the north than those of us who actually live here in the cold. After all if Al Gore says it's true, it's true isn't it. Now if you'll all excuse me, I have several inches of snow in the drive way to shovel ... in April. I am so ready for Winter to end ... the calendar says it's Spring ... but we're still very much stuck in Winter right now.

So Canadians know all about the cold, but native Alaskans do not? I know a few Alaskans who would gladly trade a freezing cold Vancouver day for even an average Fairbanks day.

DUDE.. I woke up to 2" of SNOW in my yard here in the foothills of the Cascades... and all the morons who already do not know how to drive on snow... had to have their snow tires with STUDS on them removed YESTERDAY or get a $101 ticket.... I worked from home so I did not have to play bumper tag with them.

Shows us how little you know about Canada if you consider Vancouver to be one of our cold spots in the country.

IT only got to -60 below zero F a few times..... BUT the AURORA is AWSUM to watch... in the cold and dark.. just dont take a nap while watcing them.

Didn't claim that. Why do you bring it up?

I do find it funny that Canadians claim they know more about north american climate than native americans who have been in alaska a few thousand years, living in climates a lot worse than most canadians ever see.

You mean like the people who live in the Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut? Dang I've got it easy here in Alberta compared to them.

Yep. The people currently having a hard time because the ice they've depended on for centuries isn't forming any more. Heck, they're losing their villages to erosion. Used to never bother them; a frozen sea doesn't erode the shore.

Wow how did the people in Whitehorse Yukon and Yellowknife NWT get beach front ocean properties. The last time I checked the globe, both those places were land locked far far away from the ocean (well Yellowknife does border the Great Slave Lake). And in case you were curious about today's weather in Iqaluit Nunavut the high was -26 and tomorrow the high will be -27. Yup sure is warm in Iqaluit.

Global warming has as much to do with ocean currents as it does with air currents.
Maybe spend a little time talking to the folks up north; they'll be the first to tell you the weather patterns have changed. Whether you agree or not. the Inupiat are politically active for the first time in their history. The Saami's of norther Sweden, Finland, Russia are also very politically active on this issue, whereas they've never been much involved in the past. Mayvbe check out the Inuit Global Council website. They had a great series in Indian Country Today a while back. Or maybe the people living there just aren't educated enough to know what's happening.:S

Does sound cold. Heck, Socal lost most of its citrus crop due to a hard freeze; we saw temps in the teens here for a week, which is really rare. Still the warmest winter on record, on average of course. (And ice cares about average temperatures, not cold snaps.)

I don't dispute that humans have caused damage to this planet. But we should be concerning ourselves with the toxins just as much as a massive warming trend. But the "in" thing now-a-days is GW. It's what all the tree huggers are horny about. Toxins just aren't cool anymore.

My original point was just to say the we here in Southern Alberta have been predominately buried in snow since October. Just when you think it's warming and Spring is ready to sprout, another round of snow blasts in. Then it warms up, and more snow. Warms ... snow, etc, etc, etc. It's been doing this every week for the ... I lost count and I'm sure we haven't seen the last of the white stuff.

No different here, bud...Supposed to be mid/upper 50's this time of year. I've still got 5 feet of snow under my eves, and nearly a foot of snow across the lawn. Weatherman says balmy 66 tomorrow. he's also 2500' lower than I am.
Toxins are bad, but cleanable. Global warming isn't so easy, not even after "An Inconvenient Truth."
