shropshire 0 #1 December 23, 2006 QuoteUS Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has again defended the war in Iraq, saying the investment in US lives and dollars will be "worth it". QuoteMs Rice said a lot had been sacrificed for Iraq but success would change the entire Middle East. What Right does she have to change the face for the ENtire Middle East? QuoteShe said: "There have been plenty of markers that show that this is a country that is worth the investment, because once it emerges as a country that is a stabilising factor, you will have a very different kind of Middle East." What's SHE investing? SHhe got faimily out there? Clicky (.)Y(.) Chivalry is not dead; it only sleeps for want of work to do. - Jerome K Jerome
warpedskydiver 0 #2 December 24, 2006 I do not for one nanasecond think that I would argue with THAT woman, she is simply so fucking smart it is staggering. That said I believe we can debate an issue if we have an alternate solution and can express such in a clear, concise, manner.

Gawain 0 #5 December 24, 2006 QuoteWould she be good? She may be really clever, but comes across really arrogant. I interpret that as being "well measured". Her roots are quite humble. She would be an outstanding president in my opinion, but I don't know if she'll run. I think she's more interested in returning to the private sector, or possibly running for governor of California. Edit to add: to your original topic: Her personal sacrifice in Iraq may be little compared to many. Though her position in the Cabinet is no cake-walk. She's not reshaping anything. She is communicating the policy of the country as the lead diplomat. As to the right vs. wrong in our job there, I imagine that would be a different topic. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! SkyDekker 1,465 #8 December 24, 2006 Well, that should be a nice reassurance for those families who have lost loved ones, right before Christmas. They can look at the empty seat at the Christmas dinner table and console themselves that Ms Rice has stated that it was all a good investment. Iraq is going to emerge as a country that is a stabalizing factor? I thought people said this lady was smart?
