watchdog2 0 #1 January 3, 2007 Say a person believes and KNOWS GOD exists, BUT unlike most Christians, believes in the possibility of ALIENS and EVOLUTION. And believes that since God is EVERYTHING, (hopefully not the bad stuff that goes on in the world!), He had a hand in evolution as well, if it indeed happened. What kind of churh should that person go to??

bazelos 0 #10 January 3, 2007 I don't see how you can't believe in aliens and/or evolution just because you believe to God. Surely God could have created everything, that everything, over the millenia, evolved into stuff, like earth, humans and aliens. It all makes sence! You don't have to be religious to be spiritiual, you can feel and accept God's presence without someone telling you that it is a sin to drink alcohol, eat pork, do drugs, or have sex before you get married, or whatever senless bans religions have imposed. However, going to church can help, it's a spiritual place, so you might feel closer to God that way, if you really want to see God ketamine could help, but who in their right mind would try horse tranquilisers? He who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man. Vertifly 0 #11 January 3, 2007 Do you mean "ALIENS" in the sense that there is life on other planets? Because if you do, then you can't call them aliens. It is just "life on other planets". If they come to visit us, then they are aliens. Or if we go to see them, then we are the aliens. Technically, we are aliens to the moon or mars if we ever do that. As for the concept of life on other planets, I have no choice but to believe in that. But lets face it; their god has to be the same as our god...cause if not, then god couldn't be god at all. That is, if god is all-knowing and the creator of everything. The concept of travelling across the galaxy to visit another solar system to find out the truth is a highly mortal idea. I don't really quite understand how someone could not believe in 'EVOLUTION' either. We friggin evolve everytime we have a baby on this planet. Don't we? Explain yourself. well... the way I see it this thread is likely to get locked or sent to SC so I might as well... the way I figure it the only way for offspring to be considered part of the evolutionary process is for your offspring to have offpring, who in turn have offspring, etc, etc... and without knowing this in advance of the actual occurence having children is not necessarily an honest to goodness indicator of the evolutionary process... of course on the other hand... I suppose if someone doesn't have kids they're also part of the evolutionary process... just part of one of the genetic strains that dies out... are you confused yet? cause I know I am... metalslug 36 #20 September 20, 2009 Almost all followers of a scripture-based religion will dispute any idea or claim that contradicts those scriptures, including aliens and evolution. The most open-ended religions are therefore those that do not have a scripture. I have often suggested deism as a much overlooked alternative for people that struggle to find a religious identity for themselves, because deism is more a philosophy than a religion. However, even deists do not claim to "know that God exists", they merely believe in the likelihood that a god exists and not necessarily as an exclusive entity with a fixed identity. This belief therefore makes allowances for aliens, evolution and much more.
