Passport to get into US

Do they treat you Canucs like common criminals as well or do you get treated like Americans?

Please explain how requiring a passport from Canadians to enter our country treating them like criminals?

If I come to your country, do I have to show my passport to enter? Don't answer that. I already know the answer.

Not talking about the passport, I was refering to being fingerprinted and photographed and having your records placed on the FBI computer... and no we won't do that if you come to the UK.

Of course the UK won't put American fingerprints on the FBI computers. FBI is a US thing. You guys have that James Bond thingy.

....and, any American that has ever handled a penny will already have their fingerprints on that system :P

That is so last century. This century they break into your home (w/out a warrant), and gather your fingerprints while you are sleeping. (They also know if you have a gun so that if you wake up they can shoot you and claim it was in self-defense.) :)

Now I know I'm going to probably get flamed for this, but I don't care, I'm so angry. As you may or may not know, as of today, anyone entering the US via air needs a passport. So Even though my wife and I have left lots of time to get them, she went down to the passport office today to submit our applications, and there were 400 people in line when the office opened. Wait times are 15-30 business days, which means that even if she were to get them submitted today, they would arrive just one day before our flight. This is ridiculous!! I'm so upset with the US government right now, part of me doesn't even want to go anymore, just so I can forego putting the money into their economy. So now our airmiles are booked, and we can't cancel them, and should the passports be even one day late, we would not be able to fly. We might have to make the 24 hour drive down, which cuts 2 days off our already short vacation, because as everyone knows, "terrorists" are all idiots, who won't figure out that you can still drive across the border with a driver's license. Grrrrrr...>:( End Rant.

Shit. I went to Mexico a few mths ago via TJ. When I came back in the border patrol/customs asked if I was an Amercan citizen. I said yes and he waved me thru. Didn't ask for shit for ID.

where have you been? today, they are following your every movement with satellites. Anyone who has seen the movie Stealth knows they have our fingerprints and retinal scans.

funny enough, they just piggyback off of big business satellites which have been tracking us since the mid 70's for marketting reasons

The deadline was extended a couple times, and that driving across the border will soon follow on the passport requirements.

Talk of this application backlog has been going on for a while. When the Chronicle covered it they mentioned a third party entity that can get it done in a week or so for an extra $90ish. Probably the way to go for you.

Really?

And rest assured, anything you think your country won't do, they will... it's only a matter of time.

I will say a few yrs. back they did the same to me driving back into Brownsville. I screwed w/ em bad. The even opened the tire valves and the freon valve to let the dogs sniff. I laughed all the way to the bank. My buddies were swimming the pot across the Rio 500 yrs. upstream:PActually I got ripped off for the load in the long run. Karma I guess. My first and last smuggling trip.:)

Yeah, yeah, I know we left it a little late, but I do follow the news, and I haven't been travelling a lot lately, we got on it as soon as we heard. I know it's mainly my fault, sorry if I came off like I was trying to place blame on someone else, I wasn't, I'm just frustrated and venting. And thanks on the heads up on the "rush" option so many people mentioned, we'll do that.

That is some dumb ass shit that makes the running cost of the country so much more. how is it detering anything? if someone doesn't have a previous record then they are clean! how hard is it for a terrorist organisation to find a clean person? not hard!

I travelled by plane all around europe and only had to show my passport to board a plane. No stamps no hassles. except for just after the Heathrow liquid explosives debarcle.

What a crock of shit all that was. When I flew to germany I could carry my rig on the plane no worries but when I returned (it all happened during the world meet) they wouldn't let me carry it on board and made a huge thing about it. Rather than dealing with it peacfully, they made me feel like a terrorist.

After that was settled and our rigs were with our luggage we proceeded through customs and the woman behind me had 5, 1.5 litre bottles of drink. 2 were orange coloured and 3 were clear. the customs officer opened an orange one, smelled it and let her through!?!?!?!?

Fucking fuck, fuck, cunt, asshole. I thought to myself!

Where is the sense behind that?

a week ago somebody presumably tried to blow up a plane with liquid explosives disguised as drink and then all that?

the US are creating their own paranoia and should stop poking other countries in the shoulder instead of deterring Tourism. That would be better for the country and it's economy.

Not at the moment then. Anyway fairs fair. Besides, our gov doesn't need to seeing as we're the 51st state.

Its detering me and many others from visiting. Unfortunatly I have to go on business soon so unless I sneak in without them taking my fingerprints again then I guess they will have them and a picture of me to wank off to.

Don't forget about how strong the pound is and how weak the dollar is. If the trend continues you should be able to buy one of the smaller states for a fiver and still have enough change for a 3 litre coke from Maccers.

On the big picture - I don't care if they take my prints (well they have them as I went last year) and if north Americans travelled more they would have passports anyway thus ridding themselves of the problem.

I don't know about where you're from, but in the US, most citizens can probably apply for a passport at the local post office. They usually even offer the expedited service. The large post offices almost always accept passport applications. The smaller ones, not as often. I know a couple of other countries have something similar, but I'm not sure which.
