How any amendments are there?

Recommended Posts

27....

Both houses can pass with 2/3rds and there is some part about a bunch of states can get amendments through a process. But honestly I don't recall the number of states needed nor the percentages needed. Nor the exact process....Can I look now?

Don't you hate it when Canadians can answer this question?

No. Wannabes often research their subject matter fairly well.:P

Actually we Canadians just consider our southern neighbours just a little "slower", something to do with breeding. We understand that in many states the phrase "If your sister isn't good enough for your father, she's not good enough for you either" is common.:P

Something like 90-95% of everyone in Canada lives within 100 miles of the US border. I wonder why.

Geography.. its keeps getting colder the farther you go north.

See, even the simple things need explaining! :P

Thanks for the official rationale.

We all know there's more to it. ;)

Well you're right actually...

Your sister may not be good enough for either your father or you, but she's just fine by me! :o

Something like 80% of the inhabitants of Southern California live within 100 miles of the Mexican border. I wonder why.

I'm wondering how many people know this answer without looking it up and Also, how many ways can a amendment be passed?

This is aimed more towards U.S.

Amendments to what?

Is that like saying 80% of the people who live within 120 miles of the Mexican bordern live within 100 miles of the Mexican border?
Anyway, I always considered LA part of Southern California.

It's too cold in Canada. But the beer is good.
Illinois needs a CCW Law. NOW.

Canada is full of sissies.

Adopt the death penatly, then make negative claims about people from the good ol' US of A.

And we were real men up to a year ago when we used to kill juveniles.... yea, the good ole days when men were killing men (and kids):)

Gotta love the 27th amendment that took over 200 years to be ratified.

And there are four that are still waiting for enough states. One, not interfering with slavery is moot. Another, dealing with number of representatives has been made moot by the population. The "13th", printed on some constitutional copies of the time, is fun.

Actually, we kind of believe in moving forward, not backwards....

Oh, and you should look up George St. Pierre and call him a sissy, that should go over well.:P

so are you implying that the maps of Canada are lying when they show it going well into the Arctic Circle? That nearly all of Canada is within a couple hundred miles of the US?

BTW, the definition of southern, central, and northern California is fairly political. San Francisco residents are very keen on being in Northern California, in a separate state from LA and Socal, but most people north of us consider SF Central California and would prefer a NorCal state without SF, LA, or Sacramento.

I think it's fair to place the border for SoCal at Santa Barbara, which is perhaps 150 miles from TJ? (225 driving, 150 as the shark swims)
